Samui Good Herb Thai cooking class

5.0(121 reviews)

Samui Good Herb Thai Cooking Class offers a full immersive culinary experience that goes well beyond a standard cooking lesson. Led by instructor Jul, the class begins with a guided visit to a local market where participants are introduced to authentic Thai ingredients, fresh herbs, and spices before heading to the kitchen to cook and eat what they have prepared. The combination of market tour, hands-on cooking, and hotel pick-up and drop-off makes this a well-rounded and accessible activity for visitors of varying cooking experience levels. The class covers multiple Thai dishes, walking participants through ingredient preparation, flavour balancing, and traditional cooking techniques at a comfortable pace. Sessions can occasionally run as a private class depending on bookings, which past visitors have noted adds a particularly personal quality to the experience. The venue operates seven days a week from 9am to 6pm, located in Tambon Maret on the south side of Koh Samui. Good to know: Advance booking is recommended, as group sizes appear to be limited and the class is popular with independent travellers as well as those booking through third-party platforms such as GetYourGuide. The hotel transfer service removes the need to arrange separate transportation, though confirming pick-up details at the time of booking is worthwhile. Visitor Reviews

Ms. Jul provided an exceptional learning experience in Thai cuisine. Prior to the cooking class, she took us to a local market, where she introduced us to authentic Thai ingredients and explained their origins, many of which were locally produced. She thoughtfully demonstrated how each ingredient contributed to the dishes we prepared. Ms. Jul welcomed us into her home with genuine warmth and hospitality and guided us through each recipe with clear, step-by-step instructions. I prepared panang curry, egg fried rice, and spring rolls, all of which were outstanding—without question the best Thai food I have ever tasted. Ms. Jul is an incredibly talented instructor, and her passion and dedication to her cooking class are evident in every aspect of the experience.

We absolutely loved our cooking class! Booked via GetYourGuide. We were lucky enough to be the only ones booked on, so we ended up with a private class, which made it even more special. The market tour was really interesting and gave a great insight into where locals buy their ingredients and the variety of produce available. The menu was excellent with lots of dishes to choose from, and everything we cooked was delicious. Pick-up and drop-off were smooth and well organised, and our cooking teacher was fabulous — friendly, knowledgeable and full of great tips to help us recreate the dishes at home. Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish. We had so much fun and would 100% recommend this cooking class!

We joined the cooking class twice – first my wife and then myself – and it was a wonderful experience both times! Everything was very well organized, and the pick-up and drop-off service made it super easy and flexible for us. The market tour was really interesting and gave us great insights into local ingredients and food culture – almost as valuable as the recipes themselves 😊. Cooking together was fun, easy to follow, and very rewarding. Thank you so much for this great experience – we truly recommend it to anyone visiting Koh Samui! 🙏

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
