You turn up around nine, you help put undersized crabs, egg-carrying females and the occasional small shark back into the sea, and you're done by ten. That's the whole thing. The crabs come from local fishermen who can't sell them, and without this project they'd be thrown out. Releases get logged with names and dates so the boats know to leave them alone. It's free, it's run by volunteers, and it's a much better use of a morning than another hour on a sun lounger.
Kids take to it immediately, mostly because there's something in their hands rather than a sign to read. The pace is unhurried, the shoreline is quiet at that hour, and nobody is selling you anything. The site sits behind the Cafe Amazon at the front of the soi, and there's a small local coffee shop right there too, so grab a drink and sit with the sea view either side of the release.

It was a very good activity to release cute creatures back to their home. We wrote down their names and the date so the fishermen would notice and avoid catching them again. These creatures were either too small, carrying many eggs, or had no eggs at all. They were not ready to be eaten yet. Without this activity, fishermen would simply dump them in the garbage since they cannot be sold. This activity is free and takes place every day at 9 AM. The staff are volunteers and very nice, and everyone helps each other. It’s such a great initiative to support nature together!
Hua Hin truly Heals- we appreciate this altruistic and wholesome family activity by the beach, allowing us to give back to nature and not just take from it. 9-Stars!
