Baan Itsara Restaurant
Baan Itsara sits directly on the beach in central Hua Hin, offering a combination of genuine Thai seafood cooking and open-air tables overlooking the sea. Recommended by nearby hotels including the Dusit Thani, it has developed a strong local reputation built on fresh ingredients and traditional preparation rather than tourist-facing shortcuts. Pricing sits in the mid-range, making it a practical choice for travellers who want quality without a fine-dining price tag. The menu centres on seafood, with standout dishes including clams in sweet basil sauce, seafood basil served on a hot plate, and fresh fish prepared to order. The helmet crab is worth considering for those keen to try something less commonly found on Thai menus. Mango sticky rice is a reliable way to finish the meal. Staff are consistently described by visitors as friendly and attentive, and the beachside atmosphere adds considerably to the overall experience. Good to know: reservations are strongly recommended, particularly on weekends, public holidays, and busy periods such as Chinese New Year. The restaurant opens slightly later on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00, compared to the 10:30 weekday start, and stays open until 22:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Booking ahead through the Facebook page is the most reliable way to secure a table, especially one with a direct sea view.

Visitor Reviews
We stayed at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin and the hotel front desk recommended this place, she called n book a table for us 6:00pm on CNY eve. A gorgeous little seafood place, we sat by the beach. As usual we ordered dishes we are familiar with. The signature clams with basil a must try, never had this dish before anywhere in the world, so good. PS. Remember to ask to sit outside next to beach when making a reservation in Thai please. Service was great. We paid around 1800 baht for six dishes including a large bottle of Chang. PS. They charge 20 baht for ice bucket haha but that’s totally ok for us. We had a great time ! 😎🤓🇸🇬
The food here is genuinely authentic Thai, and every dish was prepared perfectly. You can really taste the freshness and traditional flavors in each bite. The service was wonderful as well—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Thai cuisine. PS there’s no service charge.
Brilliant seafood restaurant on the beach Highly recommend their clams in sweet basil sauce! Never had anything like this. It was perfect. Great fish and the mango sticky rice desert to die for! Don’t miss this place. Thank me later 😂

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
