Baan Itsara Restaurant
Situated right on the beach in central Hua Hin, this seafood-focused restaurant draws both hotel guests and independent travellers looking for genuine Thai flavours in an atmospheric setting. Recommended by local hotels including the nearby Dusit Thani, it has built a strong reputation for fresh ingredients and traditional preparation. The location alone — tables overlooking the sea — makes it a standout choice among Hua Hin's dining options. The menu leans heavily into seafood, with dishes like clams in sweet basil sauce, seafood basil on a hot plate, and fresh fish regularly highlighted by visitors. The helmet crab is an adventurous option for those wanting to try something less common. Mango sticky rice rounds out the meal on a classic note. Pricing sits in the mid-range, making it accessible without feeling like a compromise on quality. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive. Good to know: Reservations are recommended, particularly on weekends, public holidays, and busy periods such as Chinese New Year. The restaurant opens at 11:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, slightly later than the 10:30 weekday opening, and stays open until 22:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. For the best experience — especially to secure a table with a sea view — booking ahead through the Facebook page is a practical first step before arrival.

Visitor Reviews
We stayed at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin and the hotel front desk recommended this place, she called n book a table for us 6:00pm on CNY eve. A gorgeous little seafood place, we sat by the beach. As usual we ordered dishes we are familiar with. The signature clams with basil a must try, never had this dish before anywhere in the world, so good. PS. Remember to ask to sit outside next to beach when making a reservation in Thai please. Service was great. We paid around 1800 baht for six dishes including a large bottle of Chang. PS. They charge 20 baht for ice bucket haha but that’s totally ok for us. We had a great time ! 😎🤓🇸🇬
The food here is genuinely authentic Thai, and every dish was prepared perfectly. You can really taste the freshness and traditional flavors in each bite. The service was wonderful as well—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Thai cuisine. PS there’s no service charge.
Brilliant seafood restaurant on the beach Highly recommend their clams in sweet basil sauce! Never had anything like this. It was perfect. Great fish and the mango sticky rice desert to die for! Don’t miss this place. Thank me later 😂

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
