SANKARA - Traditional Thai Massage & Nail Spa
Situated in the heart of Ao Nang, this spa and nail salon combines traditional Thai massage with a range of beauty treatments under one roof, making it a practical and popular stop for visitors to Krabi. The coconut oil massage has earned particular praise from guests, and the foot massage packages are a recurring highlight in visitor feedback. Therapists are noted for their skill and professionalism, and the atmosphere is described as calm and comfortable — a genuine respite from the heat and energy of the beachside strip. The dual focus on massage and nail services — including gel pedicures — sets Sankara apart from single-treatment spas, allowing visitors to combine appointments in one session. The team is generally responsive to booking enquiries via WhatsApp, which is worth noting given Ao Nang's busy foot traffic. As with most nail services anywhere, results can vary depending on the treatment chosen, so it pays to be specific about preferences when booking. Good to know: Ao Nang sees its highest tourist volume between November and February, so booking ahead via WhatsApp is advisable during this period rather than walking in and hoping for availability. The location is close to Ao Nang's main beachfront and dining options, making it easy to pair a treatment with lunch or an evening meal nearby. Comfortable, loose clothing is practical for massage appointments, as guests typically change into spa wear on arrival.

Visitor Reviews
Assa and I decided to try this spa because heard good things. We were able to book via whatsapp, quite responsive. She had a foot massage that she enjoyed but we don't have the lady therapist's name and I got a full body aromatherapy massage with Tiger who was so warm and charismatic. He really took such care during the massage and you can feel that he was not on autopilot. A masseuse at that spa has a tough job as the spa is very popular even during off season but yet he was still very courteous and attentive to the problem knots on my shoulders and forearm. Is not a fancy spa, as some of the massages are just separated by curtains so expect a little cozy feeling but the prices are quite reasonable. So I highly recommend the spa for the value equivalence. After an active two days of island tours, I came back for a deep tissue remedial massage with Boi and he was fantastic and professional. He also did some Thai stretching too. I have so much respect for the staff as they are so busy even off season; I hope they get to rest in between clients!
I had an amazing experience here! The massage was absolutely wonderful I chose the coconut oil massage and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. I also did the foot massage package with Yai Add and she was wonderful so kind and attentive! I had my nails done with Sai and she was amazing too! And the service from Mook and Ice at the reception was perfect. The whole experience was truly wonderful! The space is clean, relaxing and beautifully prepared, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. Everything was perfect from start to finish. I will definitely come back! 💛✨
I had a wonderful experience at Sankara. The massage was excellent and very relaxing, performed by a skilled Thai lady who really know what she was doing. I also had my nails done and was extremely happy with the result. It is a bit on the expensive side, but you truly get what you pay for quality, care, and a great overall experience. If you’re booking a nail treatment, I highly recommend asking for Bella. She was amazing!
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
