Meaw Massage
Tucked away in Pai's laid-back bohemian centre, this small wellness studio has built a loyal following among travellers passing through Mae Hong Son province. It offers traditional Thai massage alongside waxing services, and the combination of skilled, attentive therapists and genuinely warm hospitality sets it apart from the many massage shops lining Pai's streets. Visitors consistently highlight the therapeutic quality of the massages — particularly suited to those carrying tension from trekking or long motorbike rides through the surrounding mountains — as well as the waxing treatments, which are frequently praised for being painless, efficient, and competitively priced. The atmosphere reflects Pai itself: unhurried, personal, and unpretentious. The owner, Meaw, is hands-on and known for going out of her way for clients, including opening outside of expected hours when contacted directly. Massage sessions cater to those who want genuine therapeutic treatment rather than a purely relaxing experience, so guests who prefer a firmer, more corrective style will feel at home here. Good to know: The studio operates seven days a week from 8am to 10pm, making it easy to fit into a full day of exploring. As there is no website for advance booking, visiting or calling ahead is the best approach, particularly during Pai's busy cool season between November and February. Pricing for services such as waxing is agreed at the time of booking, so confirming any quoted price with the attending therapist before the appointment is worthwhile.

Visitor Reviews
I have been all over Thailand for the last month and this was the best massage I have had so far. If you're looking for an actual treatment and can handle a lil pain. This is the place for you. She found places I didn't even know were sore. Going back again tomorrow.
I thought Maew’s shop was closed because it’s Sunday, but when I called her and she opened her salon:) She gave me the most painless wax I ever had for a very good price(been waxing for 8 years). A big bonus is the fact that Maew is a really sweet lady☺️
The massage was really good, and everyone there was so nice. When I began to get a little sniffly, they brought me medicine right away. The service and kindness were truly impressive

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
