Calm Massage and Spa ( Inthawarorot branch )

4.8(3,284 reviews)

Massage in Chiang Mai comes cheap, and this isn't the cheapest. That's the whole point. Reviewers keep saying the same thing in different words: yes, it costs more than the shophouse places around the corner, and yes, it's worth it. What you're paying for is the whole sequence, not just the hour on the mat. Welcome drink of lemongrass tea, a choice of oil before you start, then hot tea and a snack afterwards while you come back to earth.

The rooms are done in a deep indigo colour scheme, quiet music, clean and tidy by every account. Thai deep tissue is the treatment people rave about most, though the back, head and shoulder combination gets its own fan club. If you've spent the day walking the Old City and your calves are complaining, that's exactly the visit this place is built for. Walk-ins get taken, including small groups, so you don't need to plan around it.

Reviews from Google

What a relaxing experience! After a long day of walking around Chiang Mai's Old City, my feet and calves were incredibly sore. Luckily, I found this place near my hotel, so I just walked in in the afternoon and didn't have to wait. The ambiance was fantastic, and the lemongrass tea and snacks provided after the massage were very thoughtful. The massage technique was superb; I even slept the whole time! Highly recommended!

I've had several massage in Chiang Mai, but I have to say this one is the best. I did Back/ head & shoulder massage today, and yes, it's a little bit more expensive than others, but it's so worth it. The aroma, the decoration of the store, the chilling music, and the warm welcome from receptionists really complete the whole experience It's a 5 out of 5 experience

Chiang Mai Calm Massage and Spa is a true hidden gem! The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and beautifully designed, setting the mood instantly. My therapist was highly professional, friendly,l and skilled. It was easily the most relaxing massage I’ve ever had. I feel completely rejuvenated and will definitely visit again!

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
