Boom Bar
A popular evening hangout on Pai's main strip, this casual bar draws a mixed crowd of travellers and locals looking to wind down after a day exploring the valley. The welcoming bartenders and relaxed vibe have earned it a strong reputation among visitors, with the atmosphere consistently singled out as one of the highlights of Pai's nightlife scene. Guests can expect cheap drinks — including local rum, vodka, and mix from around 60 baht — alongside frequent happy hours that keep the evenings affordable. The bar also stocks craft beer, including Japanese imports, for those looking beyond the standard options. Beyond drinks, there's a pool table, a dancefloor, and an upstairs area for those who prefer to sit back and soak in the music, which regulars describe as notably good. Even the occasional Pai street dog has been known to make an appearance, adding to the unhurried charm of the place. Good to know: Boom Bar opens at 6pm every night and closes at midnight, making it a reliable option for any evening during a stay in Pai. It pairs naturally with a day of tubing or exploring the surrounding area, and the casual dress code means no preparation is needed beyond turning up. Weekends tend to attract larger crowds, so those after a quieter drink may prefer arriving earlier in the evening or visiting on a weeknight.

Visitor Reviews
If you don't swing by here after a day of tipsy tubing you are not having a full day! Great place to play a quick game of pool, do some dancing or hang out upstairs and just chill. Noi, one of the bartenders, is super sweet and makes delicious drinks. One of the owners is awesome and really takes care of his customers as well!
I really enjoyed being able to come to boom bar on a night out. The bartenders here are welcoming and provide an atmosphere of hospitality that is unmatched throughout Pai. If you’re ever out and about for a night out come to boom bar to enjoy drinks and pool and good music.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
