Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint
Perched along the Pai–Mae Hong Son road, this elevated viewpoint serves as one of the most popular rest stops on the Mae Hong Son Loop, offering wide-open views across the rolling mountain ranges of Northern Thailand. The lookout faces both east and west, giving visitors an expansive perspective over the layered hills that define this part of Mae Hong Son Province. It draws independent riders, road-trippers, and tour groups alike, making it a natural midpoint pause on one of Thailand's most celebrated scenic drives. The stop is well-equipped for a roadside attraction, with a café serving coffee — the mocha comes particularly recommended — alongside several food stalls, paid toilet facilities, and emergency bottled fuel for motorcyclists doing the loop. Parking is plentiful, and the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The best views are found at or near the car park level; the road climbing higher is steep, and tree cover limits sightlines further up, so most visitors find little reason to venture beyond the main lookout area. Good to know: Some visitors have noted a 200 baht entry ticket that provides access to additional facilities on site, though the main viewpoint area can be enjoyed without it. There are no listed opening hours, so visiting during daylight hours is advisable to make the most of the scenery. The location is identified by a plus code address, so saving the coordinates or sharing them with a driver beforehand will help avoid any confusion on the winding mountain road.

Visitor Reviews
Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint is a convenient roadside stop on the Pai–Mae Hong Son road. There’s a café, several food stalls, bottled fuel for emergencies, and toilets (paid). Plenty of parking, nice mountain views, and overall fine for a short break and a few quick photos before continuing the drive.
So far best view point we stopped by doing our Mae Hong Son Loop Mocha is rich is coffee aroma and remember to say don’t put sugar. Perfect stop over drinks for us.
Great stopping point with a few little shops in an amazing view. Toilets available. Lookouts look directly east and west the mountains
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
