Baan 21 Thai Massage

4.9(588 reviews)

This is a working massage shop rather than a spa, and that's the appeal. No mood lighting, no packages, no upsell. You come in off Charoen Krung with sore legs from a day of temples in Phra Nakhon, you book an hour or two of traditional Thai, and you walk out looser than you came in. Water and tea afterwards, no charge. Prices land in the fair range, going by what people who've paid say.

The therapists get most of the credit in the reviews, particularly for finding tension you didn't know you had. Worth being honest about the flip side: one visitor found the pressure heavy and the pace rushed, and left tenser than they arrived. That's the reality of any shop where you take whoever's free. If you have a bad back or you're sensitive to strong work, say so before they start, and speak up during. A good therapist will adjust.

Reviews from Google

After 3 years visiting Thailand, and a lot of Thai Massage sessions, I really recommend Baan 21 Thai Massage!!! Super clean place, nice atmosphere, happy people and most important my therapist Ni was super professional, skilled and make me enjoy and relax. I had a two hours Thai Massage. Ni, thank you a lot!

We had really great massages here. The Staff was super nice and we liked the friendly and positive atmosphere. The prizes are also fair and you get free water and a tea after the treatment.

I had a 1.5 hour Thai massage here. The place itself was clean and welcoming, and the staff were kind but unfortunately, the massage itself wasn’t very good. I left more tense than relaxed. I hope the therapists here receive more training in how to work with the body in a safe, attuned, and connected way The movements were rushed and lacked the sense of grounding that creates the safety a body needs, especially with the level of pressure he was using. Rather than gradually building trust and easing into deeper work, he went straight in with sharp fingers with allot of pressure.. not good… and ineffective. He focused a lot on my calves (a sensitive area), applying very strong pressure for a long time, returning to them many throughout the session, which became very painful. Meanwhile, my back (usually a key area) got very little attention. I’ve had a lot of Thai massages and have studied Thai massage, and some of the positions he put me in just didn’t make sense. They felt awkward and unnecessary, when there are so many other, more natural positions that would’ve made it easier for him to do what he was trying to do. Overall, while the environment was nice, the massage didn’t leave me feeling relaxed or cared for.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
