The kitchen runs straight through from 10:00 to 23:00, every day, and on the islands that matters more than you'd think. Boat trips land at odd hours. Ferries are late. Being able to sit down at three in the afternoon and get a proper meal instead of a bag of crisps is worth a lot.
The name tells you where the ambitions lie. Tom yam is a dish that exposes a kitchen fast, and it's a fair way to judge the place on a first visit. Mid-range prices, so expect to pay a bit more than a mainland shophouse and rather less than the resort restaurants along the beach. It suits a long, unhurried dinner as well as a quick lunch, and nobody will look twice at shorts and flip-flops.
My advice is to go early in the evening rather than at seven or eight. Phi Phi eats late and all at once, and the crowd thins nothing out until well past nine.
