Why go, and how to do it well
The kind of bar you drift into after a day on the water and leave much later than planned. It sits on the Ao Nang strip, open-sided so the evening air moves through, with a reggae playlist doing most of the work on mood. Nobody's dressed up. Nobody's rushing.
Cocktails are the main event, tropical stuff and the classics, at prices that don't punish a second round. The crowd is a mix of travelers and locals, and it's an easy room to talk to strangers in, which makes it a good pick if you're solo or a pair who don't fancy a quiet dinner. If you want a club, a big sound system and a dance floor, this isn't that. It's a sit, drink, chat sort of place, and it's better for it.
My advice is to turn up not long after opening. You'll get a decent seat, the strip is still calm, and you can watch it fill up around you rather than fighting your way in at eleven.
