Airniversary Chiang Mai

4.5(871 reviews)

Airniversary Chiang Mai is a striking multi-level restaurant built around real trees in the Phra Sing area, just a short walk from several of Chiang Mai's central temples and guesthouses. The structure rises across three floors with a treehouse-like design, while the ground level features a small stream with koi fish winding through a sprawling, garden-filled layout. Live singing adds to the atmosphere on select evenings, making it a popular choice for those looking for more than just a meal. The menu covers a wide variety of dishes and drinks, with visitor highlights including a tuna salad featuring freshly cooked tuna and minced meat preparations. The kitchen caters to diverse tastes, and the setting suits everything from casual solo dining to celebratory occasions. Service is noted as attentive, and the overall décor and ambiance are consistently praised as the restaurant's strongest draw alongside the food. Good to know: Airniversary opens at 11:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM every day of the week, with no listed closure day, making it a reliable option for both lunch and dinner throughout a Chiang Mai stay. Wednesday is the one day it does not appear in the listed hours, so it is worth confirming current opening days via the restaurant's Facebook page before visiting. The central location on Ratchapakhinai Road makes it easy to combine with a day exploring the nearby old city.

Visitor Reviews

On our first night in Chiang Mai, my wife and I visited Airniversary. It was our anniversary eve, so it was a poetically fitting choice. The restaurant is stunning, with three floors offering different vibes. We sat on the first floor right in front of the live band; they were fantastic and played a great selection of popular English songs that made the night feel special. As lacto-vegetarians, we sometimes struggle with menus, but the staff here was incredible. They expertely guided us through the menu to suit our diet. We had the pizza (looked so good I had to take a photo!), glass noodles, and a salad. Everything was absolutely delectable. The service was top-class—attentive without being intrusive. They even provided extra sauces and toppings at no extra charge. Surprisingly, there was no forced service charge on the bill, which we really appreciated, so we were more than happy to leave a tip for the excellent hospitality. Fair prices and a beautiful atmosphere!

Such a cool ambiance, it’s literally a multilevel restaurant built like a treehouse in real trees!! So neat! Base level has a small makeshift stream with koi fish in a sprawling layout that never ends. If you climb to the upper seating areas, be careful coming down if you’ve had cocktails. Menu can be overwhelming with every option under the sun but we eventually settled on a few shareable items to sample and they didn’t disappoint. Morning Glory, gyoza, all the different spring rolls and soybeans. Good portions and quickly served. Planned to order a few entrees but the portions filled us up quite well. Drink menu was also fun. Try the airniversary cocktail for a unique blend and tropical taste on the palette. On a side note, first time I’ve ever seen a Rubbermaid toolshed utilized as a pair of toilets for the men’s restrooms.

A lovely restaurant located right in the center of Chiang Mai, offering a wide variety of dishes and drinks. What really stands out is the beautiful garden — a peaceful, green space with a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for either having a drink or enjoying a full meal. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to try the food this time. I only stopped by to have an herbal tea with a friend, as we were walking nearby and chose this place as our meeting point. Even so, all the dishes I saw looked absolutely delicious, and the presentation was wonderful. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to and try the food properly ☺️⭐

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
