Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Why go, and how to do it well
Gallery Drip Coffee is a pour-over bar on the ground floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, the big white gallery at the Siam end of Rama I Road. There is no espresso machine. Every cup is brewed by hand, with lighter, fruitier roasts from Thai and imported beans, and the people behind it have spent years on a project to grow, process and roast their own coffee.
It is also one of the best-value specialty cups in central Bangkok, with drinks around ฿80 to ฿90 going by recent reviews. The room is bright and people read or work there, and the free exhibitions upstairs make it easy to turn a coffee into an hour.
It is open from 10:30 to 19:30 and closed on Mondays, like the art center. BTS National Stadium is about 100 meters away by the walkway, Siam is a five-minute walk, and the Jim Thompson House and MBK are both close.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
Use Grab for Delivery
The Grab app works for food delivery across Thailand, letting you order from street stalls and restaurants alike. It's invaluable on rainy days or when you want to eat in your hotel.
