One Chun Cafe & Restaurant
One Chun Cafe & Restaurant is a well-regarded Thai restaurant housed in a Colonial-style building in the heart of Phuket Old Town, recognised by the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand award for consecutive years — a distinction that acknowledges good quality food at a reasonable price. The restaurant focuses on traditional Southern Thai cooking, drawing both locals and visitors looking to explore authentic regional flavours beyond the resort areas. The menu highlights fresh seafood and time-honoured recipes, with standout dishes including yellow curry with fresh crab meat served over noodles and crab with lemon sauce. The atmosphere reflects the character of Old Phuket Town, and the setting inside the colonial building adds a sense of place to the dining experience. Prices are considered reasonable given the quality on offer, making it an accessible option for travellers eating at a mid-range budget. One Chun is open seven days a week from 10:00, closing at 21:00 on Tuesdays and 22:00 on all other days. The restaurant's Michelin recognition and social media presence mean it attracts consistent foot traffic, so arriving early or visiting on a weekday is advisable to avoid longer waits. Spice levels in some dishes can be quite high, so those with a lower tolerance for heat may want to specify their preference when ordering, keeping in mind that the kitchen's interpretation of "medium" can still be fairly spicy by international standards.

Visitor Reviews
We found this place on TikTok while researching great restaurants in Phuket. Seeing that it’s recommended in the Michelin Guide, my girlfriend and I decided to visit to experience a higher standard of food, and it did not disappoint. The quality was excellent and absolutely worth it. Prices are fair for a Michelin-recommended restaurant, although you can still find similar local dishes elsewhere for about half the price. That said, the overall experience made it worth it. The only minor downside was the wait to be seated, but the place is very popular and doesn’t have many tables, so the wait is understandable given the hype. We ordered the Penang curry, spring rolls, and red curry with roasted duck in coconut milk. Everything was top tier, probably the best food I’ve had in Thailand so far. Overall, a great experience and a well-deserved five stars.
Went because it kept showing up on my TikTok feed. Michelin-listed and known as one of the places to try. Ordered the crab with lemon sauce, chili shrimp, and papaya salad. The crab with the lemon sauce was incredible. The sauce was so good. It would be worth going back just for that. Papaya salad is a classic, but this was one of the better versions I’ve tried. Chili shrimp was good. Very busy. Waited about 40 minutes. Service moved fast once seated. Worth trying at least once. Not sure I’d wait that long again, but glad I went.
We had an absolutely fabulous meal in the very heart of old Phuket town. The place was surprisingly reasonably priced for the exceptional quality of the food. It was truly wonderful, and the overall experience was top notch. It definitely lives up to its reputation and all the accolades it has received, including recognition from Michelin guides. The cuisine offered here is a fascinating blend of Teochew flavors infused with the distinct Thai influences, and the dishes themselves were simply divine. We can't recommend it enough, it's truly a must try experience! Just be aware that the place can get very crowded, especially during peak hours, so coming early is strongly advised. And please don't forget your cash! No other forms were permitted when we were there.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
