Salt Rooftop Bar at U Jomtien Hotel

4.2(35 reviews)

Salt Rooftop Bar sits atop the U Jomtien Hotel, offering an elevated vantage point directly above Jomtien Beach. The open-air setting delivers sweeping views of the coastline, making it a popular spot for watching the sunset while working through the cocktail menu. Unlike the busier rooftop bars found in Bangkok, the atmosphere here leans relaxed and relatively uncrowded, with a more intimate feel that suits both solo visitors and small groups. The bar serves a full food menu alongside its drinks offering, with visitors noting that the food quality holds up well — described by one guest as comparable to, or better than, local street food for the price. Cocktails are a highlight, and the bar runs a two-hour happy hour period that is worth timing a visit around. Mocktails are also available for non-drinkers, and staff are noted for being friendly and accommodating, including reserving tables in advance. The bar is open daily from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM, making it suitable for a late afternoon arrival to catch the best of the sunset light. Given the open rooftop setting and Thailand's heat, visiting later in the afternoon when temperatures begin to ease will make for a more comfortable experience. Reserving a table ahead of time is advisable, particularly if visiting during happy hour or on weekends.

Visitor Reviews

Great rooftop bar, right on Jomtien beach. Super friendly staff that reserved a table for us at 4pm. Funny enough just as the 2 hour happy hour was starting. Excellent cocktails we we certainly enjoyed our 3 hours or so here. Highly recommended

good dinner but that day quite high temp .. was felt hot but that’s 👍🏻 It is more privacy seat and not as busy as rooftop in Bangkok ฿ the price is very good for quality ✅

This bar is a part of the hotel, nice beach view can be seen from here. Food and price are okay, they are even better than some street food.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars

Carry Your Passport or a Copy

Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.

Know the Closing Times

Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.

Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously

Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
