Jomtien Beach

4.4(6,308 reviews)

This is the beach you go to when central Pattaya feels like too much. Same stretch of Gulf coast, six kilometres of it just to the south, but the pace drops noticeably once you're on the promenade under the palms. Local vendors rent out deck chairs cheaply, someone will bring you a coconut or a cold beer, and the water is calm enough for a casual swim rather than anything ambitious.

If you want to do something, jet skis, banana boats and parasailing all operate straight off the sand. If you don't, the tree-lined walk runs the full length and there are bars and restaurants the whole way, so you're never far from food. My advice is to come for the evening in the dry season. Cooler air, and the sunsets over the water are the reason half the photos of this place exist. Early morning is the other good window, before the chair and jet ski operators set up.

Reviews from Google

Evenings in the dry season are the best—cool and comfortable, not too hot. A cold beer tastes amazing.

Very long beach walk access with palm trees and nice sand, lots of places along the way for drinks and food. Jump back and forth to where you want to see, or to get to the 711 on the baht buses for 10 to 20 baht

Great area to eat drink and relax in a deck chair sipping on a coconut . Or ride on jet skis , banana boats and parasailing

Tips for Visiting Beaches

Check Monsoon Windows

Andaman coast beaches (Phuket, Krabi) have rough seas May–October. Gulf beaches (Samui, Hua Hin) are roughest October–December. Plan your beach trip around these windows for calm water and safe swimming.

Go Early for Empty Sand

Even the busiest beaches are nearly deserted before 9 AM. Sunrise walks on Kata, Chaweng, or Railay are magical — and you'll beat the heat for a morning swim.

Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Many Thai marine parks ban chemical sunscreens that damage coral. Bring reef-safe (mineral/zinc-based) sunscreen from home — it's harder to find and pricier in Thailand.
