Pupen Seafood
Sitting directly across from Jomtien Beach on the southern edge of Pattaya, this large open-air seafood restaurant has built a strong following among both locals and visitors for its fresh catches and relaxed waterfront atmosphere. The spacious outdoor seating area faces the ocean, making it a popular choice in the evenings when the sunset views over the Gulf of Thailand come into their own. The menu centres on classic Thai seafood prepared to traditional recipes, with fresh crab drawing particular praise from diners for its firm, sweet meat. The seafood dipping sauces — typically spicy and tangy — are a highlight in their own right. Beyond seafood, the kitchen also serves dishes that appeal to those less keen on fish, and fresh young coconuts are a popular accompaniment. Despite the restaurant's size and often busy atmosphere, service is noted for being efficient and attentive. Pupen Seafood is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00, making it suitable for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant tends to fill up in the early evening as diners come for the sunset, so arriving slightly earlier is advisable during peak tourist periods. Pricing sits in the mid-range for the area. The casual, open-air setting means light, comfortable clothing suits the environment well. Updates and contact information can be found via their Facebook page at facebook.com/pupen24.

Visitor Reviews
PuPen Seafood Restaurant is a great spot in Pattaya if you want fresh Thai seafood with a relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful waterfront view. The restaurant is large and open air with plenty of seating, and the giant blue crab statue at the entrance makes it easy to find. It is a fun place to sit back, enjoy the breeze, and take in the view while eating. I had the pineapple shrimp fried rice, something I had been wanting for quite a while, and PuPen did not disappoint. It was served in a whole pineapple and the portion was huge, so large that I could not finish it. I also ordered the shrimp cakes (Tod Mun Goong), which were crispy and flavorful and came with a sweet dipping sauce. My company had the spicy papaya salad (Som Tam), which had a strong kick but great flavor, along with crispy fried baby shrimp (Tod Kung Foy) that were thin and crunchy with a nice dipping sauce. I had a beer and my company had a Coke. The service stood out. The waiter kept an eye on the table and refilled my glass whenever it reached about halfway, which was a nice touch and made the experience feel attentive without being intrusive. Great food, generous portions, and a beautiful setting by the water. I would happily return to PuPen Seafood Restaurant the next time I am in Pattaya. It is a great place to enjoy Thai seafood with a view.
A large outdoor seated restaurant with a wide variety of seafood dishes. It sits across from Jomtien beach and has amazing sunset views in the evening. The food is fresh and delicious. You cannot fault the dishes at all and if we had a larger group, we would have ordered a lot of food to try but still tried our best to try a fair few things like crab fried rice, crab in yellow curry, prawn hot and sour soup and shrimp fishcakes. If you cannot take spicy food, do tell staff in advance and they will be able to advise you whether you should order the food or not since some dishes cannot be alerted (and they are spicy!) The service is fast but staff are not very attentive as they are simply busy in the evenings as Pupen draws in large crowds. Try and get there for sunset as the view is amazing and colours brilliant. Car parking is easy and just outside the restaurant and there are plenty of parking spots.
If you're visiting Pattaya, this seafood restaurant is an absolute must. Despite the bustling crowd, service is impressively fast — we received our order within minutes without a long wait. The aroma and flavor of each dish are truly exceptional. My personal favorite is the deep-fried shrimp cake, which tastes just like the traditional version from my hometown - crispy, flavorful, and nostalgic. The papaya salad with crab is also a standout, offering a perfect balance of spice and freshness. Whether you're a seafood lover or simply exploring local cuisine, this place should definitely be on your list when you're in Pattaya.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
