Mr Long Bar
Tucked into the beachside neighbourhood of Ao Nang, this bar has earned a devoted following thanks largely to its owner, Mr. Long, whose warm and personal approach sets the place apart from the typical tourist strip. Visitors consistently describe his hospitality as the heart of the experience — greeting guests personally, sharing drinks with the crowd, and fostering an atmosphere that feels more like a gathering of friends than a commercial bar. Evenings here come with live music and a well-stocked drinks selection, drawing a predominantly international crowd looking to wind down after a day on Krabi's beaches and islands. The vibe is relaxed and sociable, making it a natural spot for solo travellers wanting to meet people or groups looking for a laid-back night out. The atmosphere has been described by visitors as genuinely warm and community-minded, which is relatively rare in a busy tourist area like Ao Nang. Good to know: It is worth asking at your hotel or checking locally before heading out for the evening. The bar operates on a cash-friendly basis, so carrying local currency is a practical move. Given the generosity of the owner and staff, many visitors recommend tipping well if your experience lives up to its reputation.

Absolutely fantastic place. My favourite in aonang. Such lovely people and a fantastic atmosphere ❤️
Mr. Long’s Bar is really beautiful — in the evening they have live music and a wide selection of drinks. The clientele are mostly foreigners, so I’d say it’s quite a touristy spot. Mr. Long and the staff are very kind and friendly. I spent two nights there and will definitely come back with friends again.
A documentary of a life that is yet to be told. Magical Mr. Long. He is a character so rare it has to be yet invented. This is not a bar, this is an healing temple of the soul. Thank you, Mr. Long Bar.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
