Base Ao Nang Beachfront Hostel by Nomads
Part of the global Nomads network, this beachfront hostel sits directly on Ao Nang Beach in Krabi, placing guests steps from the sand and within easy reach of the region's renowned limestone cliffs, island-hopping tours, and rock climbing routes. The beachfront position means early morning swims and sunset views require no transport whatsoever, making it a practical base for travellers who want to spend more time exploring and less time commuting. The atmosphere leans decisively social. Staff and dedicated reps are a consistent highlight in guest feedback, with visitors frequently noting how welcome they felt on arrival, particularly those travelling solo. Organised activities including pool parties and pub crawls keep things lively, and the on-site pool adds another communal gathering point. First-time hostel guests and seasoned backpackers alike report the energy here as genuinely inviting rather than forced. Good to know: Ao Nang's peak season runs from November to February, when weather is at its most pleasant, though December and January bring the largest crowds. Shoulder months offer a quieter experience while still benefiting from dry conditions. Booking directly through the Nomads website is recommended for the best available rates and to check current room options. The hostel is categorised as a lodging establishment and operates as a hostel, so shared accommodation is the norm — private room availability should be confirmed at the time of booking.

Visitor Reviews
My stay at base was great! All of the staff was wonderful and helpful, the reception and bar staff was great they were always available to answer any questions I had. I went on the 4 island tour with Devo and Mandy they were awesome. Devo was very knowledgeable about the islands and Thai culture while making it fun and a great experience! Mandy was great too very inviting and definitely kept the party going! I also went on the kayaking tour with Mandy, Sky and Crissie were on the trip too they were very nice and made the trip fun! My experience at base was 10/10 and made better by the wonderful people working there! Next time I’m in Ao Nang I will be back!
This was mine and my friend’s first hostel experience, and it turned out to be one of the most fun weeks of my life. The staff have an energy that instantly puts a smile on your face, and they’re amazing at bringing everyone together and making sure you’re having a great time. The rooms were clean and well-kept, and the space overall was fantastic. I genuinely couldn’t recommend this place more. A special mention to Madison who put so much care and effort into making our stay comfortable, exciting, and truly unforgettable. I can’t wait to come back in the future!
Stayed here a few nights and honestly had such a good time. The hostel’s super close to the beach and the pool is actually really cool. They’ve always got stuff going on too, like pub crawls and pool parties, so it’s pretty hard to get bored. The reps (volunteers) are all super chill and make it really easy to get involved. Big shoutout to Gaby — she was super helpful from the start, really fun to hang out with, and always down for a chat. She made everyone feel welcome and kept the vibe going.
