Rango Bar
Tucked away in the Bo Put area of Koh Samui, Rango Bar has built a loyal following among visitors looking for a relaxed but energetic night out. The bar draws people in with its welcoming vibe, and many guests report stumbling upon it simply because of the atmosphere spilling out onto the street. It operates purely as a bar with no food service, so it works best as a destination for drinks rather than a full evening meal. The cocktail menu is a clear highlight, with the mojito and Mai Tai both earning repeated praise from regulars. Bartender BC is mentioned by name in multiple reviews for crafting standout drinks, and the wider staff are consistently described as friendly, humorous, and attentive. Live music runs until at least 12:30am, making it a solid choice for those looking to extend their night in a venue that feels personal rather than touristy. Worth knowing before visiting: Rango Bar has no listed website or published opening hours, so it is worth checking locally or simply heading over in the evening when the bar tends to come alive. As it serves no food, arriving having already eaten is recommended. The address places it at 14/68 Moo 2, Tambon Bo Put, within the north coast area of the island that is well served by taxis and ride-hailing apps.

My favourite bar that I visited in Koh Samui. All the staff are so friendly and have a great sense of humour and ‘BC’ makes the best cocktails!
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
