Nophaburi Bar | Thai Cocktail
Tucked along Samlaan Road in Chiang Mai's Phasingh district, this cocktail bar has built a strong following among both locals and travellers by putting Thai flavours at the centre of its drinks menu. The focus on Thai-influenced craft cocktails sets it apart from the standard bar scene, with reviewers singling out inventive combinations — smoky, spiced rum drinks among the highlights — alongside thoughtful service and a genuine sense of place. The atmosphere is a consistent draw: a relaxed setup with a DJ playing at a volume that sets the mood without shutting down conversation. Reviewers describe it as effortlessly cool and unhurried, with staff who are easygoing and attentive without being intrusive. The venue also operates a daytime coffee concept from the same owner, which transitions into a gin and tonic bar come evening, giving it a dual character that fits the laid-back Chiang Mai pace. Good to know: The bar opens every night at 6pm and runs until midnight, with no days closed, making it straightforward to work into any itinerary. Arriving around opening time tends to offer a quieter, more relaxed experience if conversation is the priority, while later in the evening draws a livelier crowd. The old city location is walkable from most central accommodation. Check their Facebook page before visiting for any updates to hours or special events.

Visitor Reviews
What an absolute gem of a place! Everything from the ambiance, to the service, to the drinks, to the music was completely spot on. My friend and I chose this place because we saw “Thai cocktails” on the menu and it did not disappoint. Super interesting drinks, and the staff were so kind and helpful. The decor is so cool - cozy and funky at the same time. I personally LOVED the music - exactly my genre with a lot of indie rock 🥰 I hope to return to Chiang Mai some time and will definitely be revisiting this place when I do!
The best atmosphere of any bar we explored in Chiang Mai and cocktails to match. There was an excellent selection of drinks - the smoky, cinammon, rum drink was a winner especially. Loved the unassuming decor with bric-a-brac furniture and menus printed on sheet metal. Service was friendly and down-to-earth - not cloying as it can be in other places. A brilliant DJ was also playing on the Saturday night that we went.
Instantly became our favorite in Chiang Mai. Super relaxed setup, a DJ spinning chill tracks at just the right volume - enough to set the mood without killing conversation. Staff is easygoing and genuinely nice, drinks are solid, and the whole place just gets it. Highly recommend if you’re into low-key nights done right.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
