Buak Haad Public Park, also written Nong Buak Haad or Suan Buak Hat, fills the southwest corner of Chiang Mai's Old City, just inside the moat on Arak Road. It's where the city exercises, with a shaded 500 m running track, outdoor exercise stations and free weights, and free group yoga in the mornings, and the lawns and fountain make it a calm place to sit in the middle of the day.
For one weekend each February it becomes the center of the Chiang Mai Flower Festival, filled with flower gardens, orchid displays and plant stalls, and the floral parade ends at its gates. It's free and open from 05:00 to 21:00, and Chiang Mai Gate and Wat Phra Singh are a short walk away.
