Noir cmi
Noir CMI is an intimate cocktail bar and jazz venue on Charoen Prathet Road, drawing a loyal crowd with its combination of craft drinks, live music, and a distinctly atmospheric setting. The interior leans into moody elegance — dim lighting, black décor, and carefully considered acoustics that complement the live bands performing most nights, featuring both local and international musicians across a range of jazz styles. The bar program is a genuine highlight. Staff are noted for their attentiveness and willingness to walk guests through the drinks menu in detail, and the cocktails are crafted with evident care. Small snacks accompany the drinks experience, and the overall pace of service encourages guests to settle in and stay a while rather than move on quickly. The vibe suits couples, small groups, and solo travellers comfortable sitting at a bar and striking up conversation. Good to know: Noir CMI opens at 7 PM every night of the week and closes at 1 AM, making it a consistent option regardless of what day you arrive in Chiang Mai. The venue is compact and intimate, so arriving closer to opening time is worthwhile if you prefer a quieter experience or want a good seat before live music begins. The Instagram account at noir_cmi is the best place to check for upcoming performers or any event nights before your visit.

Visitor Reviews
Such a lovely experience. From the moment we entered, the staff was so sweet and kind. Very attentive and explain all the drinks in detail, continuously check up on you and refill the water glasses & bar snack (which is SO good). We tried both savory (Caterpillar) & sweet (Winter Strawberry Fizz) options and they did not disappoint. Drinks were well balanced and delicious while the live jazz band was amazing as well. Highly recommend this bar to anyone looking for a good, relaxed night out in CMI.
An intimate jazz bar with a moody, modern atmosphere — dim lights, elegant black décor, and top-notch sound. Live bands play most nights, featuring skilled local and international musicians with a real passion for improvisation. The cocktails are excellent, creative, and well-balanced, and the staff are attentive without being intrusive. It’s one of the best spots in Chiang Mai to enjoy live jazz in a refined yet relaxed setting.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
