Ram Bar Chiangmai
Ram Bar Chiangmai is a lively bar and nightlife venue on Charoen Prathet Road, best known for its high-energy drag shows that draw both tourists and locals into a genuinely inclusive, welcoming atmosphere. The bar has built a reputation as one of Chiang Mai's more entertaining evening stops, attracting a diverse crowd of backpackers, expats, straight and LGBTQ visitors, and Thai locals who come together for the performances and the social energy that surrounds them. The main draw is the live drag show, which runs twice nightly. Performances typically kick off around 9:30 to 9:45 PM, with each show lasting roughly 45 minutes, followed by a short break before the second set begins around 11 PM. Visitors consistently praise the quality of the performers, with several noting the acts rival what you would find in Bangkok. There is no entrance fee, though tipping the performers is welcomed. Drinks are priced slightly above the Chiang Mai average, which is worth factoring in for budget travellers, but most visitors feel the entertainment justifies the cost. Staff are noted for their hospitality even during busy periods. Good to know: Arriving before 9:30 PM is advisable to secure a decent spot, as the bar fills up quickly on show nights. The venue operates without a widely listed website or confirmed opening hours, so plan to arrive in the early evening or check locally on the day of your visit.

Visitor Reviews
Omg they hosted the BEST drag show I have ever seen in my life. This bar was packed, great vibes, and good music. The staff was amazing and we all had a wonderful time. The drinks are on the pricey side here but it is what it is. It didn’t spoil our time.
Most of the bar , straight or LGBTQ , this place very friendly environment for everyone, the owner and staff superb hospitality, sometimes busy but they still looking for you and serving nice drinks BUT THE MIST I LIKE IS THEIR RESTROOM!! so if the restroom are so clean looks so luxury we don’t need to worry about the standard!! Highly recommended !!
Awesome and fun show! Starts at 9:45 and lasts for 45 min, then after a short break they do another 45 min (different show). There’s no entrance fee, though they accept tips and drinks are a bit more expensive but that didn’t bother me at all considering how much fun I had!
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
