- Hours
- Daily 05:00–12:00
- Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
- Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Come early or don't come at all. This is a market for people doing their actual shopping, not a photo stop, and by ten in the morning a good number of stalls are already packing away. Doors open at five, and the first few hours are when the seafood counters are full, the aisles are properly busy and the prepared-food stalls are turning out southern Thai dishes for people on their way to work.
Signage is mostly Thai and nobody is going to hand you a menu in English, but you don't really need one. It's stall by stall, everything is out in front of you, and pointing works fine. Fruit, vegetables, fish, and cooked food you can eat standing up. If you want a sense of how Krabi town actually eats, this beats any of the night markets aimed at visitors.
Practical bits: wear something light, because the covered sections get warm once the crowd builds, and shoes you don't mind getting wet. Fresh markets have puddles.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
Claim Your VAT Refund
Spend 2,000+ THB at a single store displaying 'VAT Refund for Tourists' signs, get a yellow form at the register, and claim 7% VAT back at the airport. It adds up fast on bigger purchases.
