Why go, and how to do it well
Come here when the heat has beaten you and you want three hours of cold air, a film and a proper feed. It's a Central Pattana mall, so you know the shape of it before you walk in, with a department store anchor, Thai and international brands over several floors, fashion, electronics, health and beauty, homewares, a supermarket for stocking up, a cinema upstairs.
The food is the reason I'd actually make the trip rather than just pass through. The food court covers northeastern dishes cheaply and quickly, and there are sit-down restaurants and the usual fast food chains if you want something familiar. It works for breakfast-ish timing right through to dinner, since the doors stay open till nine.
Skip weekends and public holidays if you can. This is where Ubon families spend their day off, and the lines and parking lot show it. A weekday afternoon is a different place entirely.
