Aussie Rules Bar
A laid-back Australian-themed bar and night club on Kanchanaburi's main riverside strip, Aussie Rules Bar has built a loyal following among backpackers, expats, and passing travellers thanks to its casual atmosphere and genuinely welcoming owner, Bob. Known as a reliable spot to meet like-minded people, the bar draws a sociable international crowd and serves as one of the more characterful nightlife options in an area better known for its wartime history than its after-dark scene. Inside, visitors can expect big screens showing live sport, reasonably priced drinks, and attentive bar staff. Bob himself is frequently mentioned by visitors as a highlight — knowledgeable about the local area and happy to chat, he gives the place a personal, host-led feel that sets it apart from more anonymous tourist bars. Light food is available, though reviews suggest the kitchen is not the main draw. Good to know: Aussie Rules Bar opens daily from 9:00 AM through to 12:30 AM, making it a flexible option whether you want a quiet afternoon drink after visiting the Bridge over the River Kwai or a late-night social stop. Budget pricing keeps it accessible for travellers watching their costs. The bar is easy to find on Maenamkwai Road, close to the town's guesthouses and main attractions, so it works well as a base for an informal evening without needing transport.

Visitor Reviews
A great bar in Kanchanaburi. For a place to socialise and relax in a great atmosphere, Bob's Aussie Rules Bar is the place to be. Bob is welcoming and a great source of local knowledge for all the best things to do in Kanchanaburi. Staff are friendly and efficient and if you want to catch up on the cricket or Australian footy it will be on the tv here. The beers are cold, inexpensive and also plenty to choose from.
Great place to watch live sport and have some drinks. The owner, Bob, is a friendly and welcoming host, helped me put the footy on for my local team, bar staff kept the drinks flowing and had a nice bite to eat too. Highly recommended
Nice bar on the main Road. Good place to meet other expats and other friendly people. Staff are smiling and welcoming and prices on beverages are reasonable. They have a couple of big screens showing sports and a decent pool table. Ventilation in the bar is also good during the hotter days. Go here for a beer and check it out

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
