Night street food
Located on Thanon Sangchuto in central Kanchanaburi, this open-air street food market draws a strong local crowd, which is generally a reliable indicator of quality and value. With anywhere from 50 to 100 vendor carts operating at peak times, it offers a wide-ranging spread of Thai street food, desserts, bakery items, snacks, and even the occasional pizza, making it easy for most tastes to find something appealing. Its position close to the town's clock tower makes it a convenient stop during an evening wander through the area. The atmosphere is casual and communal, with tables and chairs set out so visitors can sit down, eat comfortably, and take their time. Standout dishes spotted by visitors include yen ta fo (a noodle soup with pink fermented tofu broth), moo ping (grilled pork skewers), and a variety of Thai desserts. While many vendors offer similar menus, the sheer volume of choice means there is still plenty to explore, and prices throughout remain firmly in the budget range. The market operates every day from 10am to 9pm, though evenings draw the largest crowds and the fullest vendor selection. Arriving after 6pm offers the liveliest experience and the broadest choice of food. Comfortable footwear and light clothing suited to warm evenings are recommended, as visiting involves walking between carts before settling in to eat.

Visitor Reviews
Lots of food and many tables and chairs to sit and eat comfortably. Many Thai food, bakery food, snacks, and desserts, including pizzas. The food is cheap too. You can walk around first to see what you like to eat. There can be more than one stall selling the same food. I saw at least 4 stalls selling cold desserts.
Huge selection of food! 50-100 little carts with a great selection of Thai food and desserts. Mostly Thai locals eating there so you know it's good. Definitely worth the visit.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
