Keemala

4.6(1,357 reviews)

Perched on a lush hillside in the Kamala area of Phuket, this upscale resort offers a collection of architect-designed wooden villas that blend seamlessly into the surrounding tropical forest. Each villa comes with a private pool, and the overall aesthetic draws on natural materials and organic forms to create a sense of seclusion that feels genuinely removed from the busier parts of the island. The resort is particularly well-suited to honeymooners and travellers seeking a restorative, private retreat rather than a social or beach-centric holiday. Guests can expect attentive, personalised service that multiple visitors have singled out as a highlight of their stay. On-site facilities include a spa, a restaurant and bar, and wellness retreat programmes, making it easy to spend several days without needing to leave the property. The hillside setting means the villas are spread across uneven terrain, so those with mobility considerations should check villa accessibility directly with the resort before booking. Given the resort's positioning as a luxury property with private pool villas and a strong emphasis on tranquillity, it suits couples and solo travellers more than families with young children. Advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly during Phuket's peak dry season between November and April when demand for high-end properties in the region is at its highest. The resort's website at keemala.com provides full villa category details and direct booking options.

We really loved our stay here. The staff was really amazing, caring and attentive to every single detail. Our host was Melon. He took care of us for every single request and he even anticipated them. We enjoyed many activities within Keemala, the garden tour with Tan was really the best one, we saw a rubber tree, all the herbs and the mushroom room. The cocktail class was a little bit too fast but the staff was always very very nice, explaining how to make a Thai cocktail and helping us with pictures and making us trying the ingredients, I would have loved to try a more complicated cocktail. The gym is small but furnished with everything you need. The restaurant had a gigantic menu and everything we tried was delicious both for breakfast or any other meal. The room ladies were really stunning. Every day they were leaving us a message in the bed with some flower compositions and a little car, it really made our honeymoon even more special. The hotel is located in a more remote area and unfortunately you can see and hear some noises coming from the outside like car speeding or the call for payer from the close by mosque. Apart from that everything was really perfect. Thank you so much for having us and treating us in the best way.

We stayed at Keemala in Phuket and it was a truly unique experience. The resort is set on a hillside surrounded by lush forest, giving it a very peaceful and private atmosphere. The villas are beautifully designed, blending natural materials with modern comfort, and each one feels like its own little sanctuary. Our villa had a private pool, which was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. The interiors were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that made the stay extra special. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the view of the forest was incredibly calming. The resort also has great amenities. We enjoyed the pool area, spa, and a few restaurants that serve delicious, well-prepared food. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always willing to help with anything, from arranging tours to giving local tips. Keemala feels like a perfect escape from the busy parts of Phuket. It’s ideal for couples, honeymooners, or anyone looking for a quiet, luxurious stay surrounded by nature. Overall, our stay was unforgettable and we would love to come back.

The ambiance is absolutely beautiful, and the architecture of the rooms is truly impressive and unique. The design alone makes the stay special. A special thank you to Arif for his outstanding hospitality and for taking such great care of us. He did an amazing job decorating the room for the birthday celebration — it made the experience even more memorable. The only downside was the restaurant. The food honestly did not live up to the reviews. We tried a variety of dishes, and each time it was disappointing. This hotel truly deserves a stronger culinary team to match its incredible setting. That said, the service overall was excellent, and the staff were consistently warm and friendly.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
