Kamala Market
Situated a short walk from Kamala Beach, this open-air evening market draws both locals and visitors with a well-rounded mix of street food stalls, clothing vendors, souvenir sellers, and fresh produce. It reflects the quieter, more laid-back character of the Kamala area compared to Phuket's busier tourist hubs, making it a pleasant alternative for those looking to browse without the crowds. Food is a clear highlight, with vendors serving sushi, meat skewers, fresh fish, coconut ice cream, juices, and regional Thai specialties — many at remarkably low prices. Beyond eating, shoppers can pick through stalls selling clothes, shoes, bags, sunglasses, watches, and trinkets. Bargaining is part of the experience, and cash in Thai baht is the preferred payment method. Worth noting: the market operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 14:00 to 21:00 — it is closed on weekends, which catches some visitors off guard. It is not the largest market in Phuket, and those staying outside the area may not find it worth a dedicated trip. For guests already based in Kamala, however, it makes an easy and enjoyable afternoon detour, particularly earlier in the session before the stalls get busiest toward the evening.

Visitor Reviews
Very lively market. Lots of food options, drinks and juices, fresh meat and fish etc., We got some sushi, which was super tasty. 5 pc’s for 50 baht. Also got some meat skewers and coconut ice cream and some fresh juice. Probably spent a few hundred baht in all and was full for dinner. Had no issues with the food and everything looked clean. Lots of halal options. But bring cash. Would recommend.
Whilst visiting Thailand I have been to a lot of markets and this is up there being one of the best. There are a lot of stalls with plenty to offer. The street food is spectacular and there is a good range of products to try. As I love to barter I was in my element and got a good price on the t shirts and souvenirs. Don’t be afraid to haggle it is all part of the experience!!
Plenty of cheap food & drink options! Great to try some local food from different food vendours. And soooo much shopping if you love getting a good deal on clothes, bags, sunnies, watches, trinkets. Had a great time cruising through in the evenings! You might even be able to meet a cute chihuahua named iPhone 🐾

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
