Nestled in the laid-back mountain town of Pai in Mae Hong Son Province, Topp Stay Hostel has built a strong reputation not for its facilities alone, but for the warmth and generosity of the people who run it. Guests consistently highlight host Ice by name, describing her as knowledgeable, caring, and genuinely invested in making every visitor feel at home — whether that means helping plan day trips, connecting travellers with one another, or occasionally joining guests on local excursions. The hostel draws a sociable crowd and fosters a community atmosphere that keeps many guests extending their stays well beyond their original plans. Beyond the personal touches, the property is noted for being clean and well-maintained, offering reliable comfort at a budget-friendly price point. The hostel has also organised community-oriented activities for guests, including visits to local schools, giving longer-stay travellers a chance to engage meaningfully with the area. Good to know: Pai is best explored during the cool season, running from November through February, when temperatures are comfortable for visiting the surrounding waterfalls, hot springs, and scenic viewpoints. The town sits roughly three to four hours from Chiang Mai by road, making it a natural stop on a northern Thailand itinerary. Accommodation here books out quickly during peak season and major holidays, so reserving in advance is advisable.

Visitor Reviews
I happened so be staying here over Christmas and I am so glad I did. We had a Christmas celebration and also went to a local school to give presents, food, and help paint the playground. The women of this hostel are truly the most kind, welcoming people and make you feel like part of a family. One of the best experiences I've had during my travels through Southeast Asia. Thank you Ice, Gloria, and Benny
my friends and I planned to stay at this hostel for one night, but we ended up staying five. The people who run this place are genuinely lovely, so welcoming and kind. You can have great banter with them, and if you ever need anything, they’re always happy to help with advice or recommendations. And, there are games you can play, which makes it even more fun to stay.
You'll notice most of the reviews talk about the friendliness of the people who run the hostel, and this is another one! I felt very welcome there, Ice was so lovely and helpful. The place is clean, it's a great location. Absolutely great for budget backpackers 😁🙏🏼
