Doungta Anda Hotel

3.9(313 reviews)

Situated in the Pak Nam area of Mueang Krabi District, this hotel offers a quieter, more local alternative to the busier tourist centres of Krabi. Its riverside position places guests within reach of Phang Nga Bay's limestone scenery and the broader network of islands and beaches that make Krabi a popular destination. Scooter rentals are available directly at the hotel, giving guests an affordable and flexible way to explore the surrounding area independently. Rooms are generally spacious, with some featuring a kitchen niche, and the property includes a pool area with a dedicated children's section. However, prospective guests should approach with realistic expectations: recent visitor feedback raises concerns about pool maintenance, inconsistent water supply, room cleanliness, and thin walls. Staff are frequently noted as helpful and friendly, which remains a consistent positive across reviews. Doungta Anda Hotel is best suited to travellers on a practical itinerary who prioritise space and independence over resort-style comfort. The driest and most pleasant time to visit Krabi runs from November to April, with peak season falling between December and February. Booking ahead during this window is advisable. Those planning to use the hotel primarily as a base for day trips and outdoor activities, rather than spending extended time on the property itself, are likely to find it the most serviceable fit.

Visitor Reviews

It's really a good hotel, with a friendly staff, and a good pool, even a very big pool area for children. Hotel have some very big room, with a kitchen niche. Medium balcony, but without chairs, but you can just ask for them. Hotel are in two parts, and as I remember the hotel were finished in January 2017, so every thing are new. Big parking place, but hotel are about 3 km from city town. For now the restaurant only open for breakfast. Overall facilities is good. My complaint is on the staffs especially the front desk. it is ok if they can't speak English but train them to be polite and courteous.

We had two days here while extending our visa. Reading the reviews we didn’t have high expectations. However it wasn’t that bad. We rented scooters at the hotel, so we could get around for 250 baht per scooter. The room we had was huge with extra room with a sofa, boiler and fridge. The outdoor area was fine for our needs and the kids had some great hours there. We had bought some bread and jam and did the breakfast ourselves. The only minus was that the staff did speak poor English and that we had really bag WiFi in our room.

Pros: Spacious clean room. Cons: Thin walls.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
