Kodang 8
Kodang 8 is a live music bar in the Pak Nam area of Krabi town, drawing both Thai locals and travellers looking for an authentic evening out away from the beach resort scene. The venue operates as a performance space as much as a bar, with rotating live bands and singers taking the stage throughout the night, giving it more energy than a typical neighbourhood pub. Visitors can expect an open-air environment with a casual, unpretentious atmosphere and genuinely warm hospitality. The owner is noted for being welcoming and English-speaking, which makes the space accessible for international guests. The crowd tends to be a healthy mix of Thai regulars and curious travellers, and the vibe leans local rather than tourist-facing — think cold drinks, live music, and easy conversation rather than cocktail menus and themed decor. Good to know: Opening hours are not publicly listed, and at least one recent review raises questions about the venue's current status, so it is worth verifying the bar is still operating before making the trip. Checking with your accommodation or contacting the venue directly before heading out in the evening is a sensible precaution. For those staying in central Krabi town, the location is straightforward to reach and makes for a decent addition to a night spent exploring the local area rather than the beaches.

Visitor Reviews
Here is a local live band bar. There are 3 singers who will take turns to sing a few songs. The owner is very friendly and he can speak English well. He just took over the place a month ago. If you want food, he can help to recommend and order. Singa big bottle 120b Ice bucket 79b fries 75b. No idea why they always charge a lot on the ice. But will come again if in Krabi.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
