Dk1 Hostel
DK1 Hostel sits in Bo Put, a quieter residential neighbourhood on Koh Samui's north shore, offering budget-friendly accommodation with a distinctly personal touch. The hostel is run by its owner, affectionately known as "Mama" by guests, who is consistently praised for greeting each visitor warmly and maintaining the space with genuine care. Repeat guests are common, with many returning specifically for the welcoming atmosphere she creates. Rooms are clean, well-organised, and comfortably furnished with quality bedding, while bathrooms are noted for being spacious and well-maintained. The communal areas are sociable, making it easy for solo travellers to meet fellow guests. Free coffee is available, and the hostel operates around the clock, giving flexibility to those arriving on late ferry schedules. The Bo Put location provides a more local, low-key base compared to the island's busier beachfront zones, while remaining accessible to Koh Samui's main attractions, beaches, and tour operators offering excursions to places like Ang Thong National Marine Park. Good to know: DK1 Hostel suits independent travellers who prefer a relaxed, neighbourhood setting over a resort strip. Bo Put is quieter than areas like Chaweng, so a scooter rental or familiarity with local songthaew routes is useful for getting around the island. Book ahead during peak season between December and February, when Koh Samui sees its highest visitor numbers and affordable accommodation fills quickly.

Visitor Reviews
Out of all the hostels we’ve stayed in, DK1 will always have a special place in our hearts. The rooms and bathrooms are super spacious with everything you need. Facilities are perfect with as much coffee and water are you could want. Right around the corner from the beach/7 eleven/stadium, honestly the list goes on. That being said - nothing compares to our DK mama. A wonderful, beautiful soul that turns every stranger into family. My partner and I only stayed 2 nights, but even in such a short space of time, mama captured our hearts and gave us a home away from home. When we arrived, my partner had a foot injury and I had come down with the cold. Mama went above and beyond from helping us get ice and making sure we were safe, comfortable and happy to offering to go and get us dinner and bring it to us. She is incredibly hard working and tends to all hostel needs on her own. But was never too busy to have a yap and a giggle with us. We could not have asked for a more wonderful stay. (Not to mention meow meow the cat who is most loveable, sweet girl). Thank you so much for everything mama, your Scottish girls will never forget you ❤️
I had an amazing stay at DK1 Hostel. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and very well-organized. The bed is perfect for resting after a long day, with soft pillows and quality bedding, making it super easy to unwind. The hostel’s common area is spacious and thoughtfully designed with modern touches, creating a welcoming environment. The curtains around the beds give a sense of privacy, which is a nice touch for a shared space. There’s also a great vibe in the common area, where you can relax or meet fellow travelers. The atmosphere is calm, clean and has a good location. I definitely recommend DK1 Hostel for anyone looking for a clean, peaceful, and budget-friendly place to stay while traveling. A perfect balance of comfort and convenience!
If you’re looking for home away from home in Koh Samui then this is the place. DK mama maintains the place like her own house, greets and interacts with each and every guest. The location of the hostel is also quite close to popular Chaweng beach which is also Nightlife hub of Samui. Hostel also has very well equipped kitchen where you can cook your own meals. Meet really great folks in the hostel and was really amazing to hear their stories. Thank you for taking care mama and will see you soon.
