Laem Din Market ตลาดแหลมดิน
Tucked away in Chaweng, this local market offers a grounded alternative to Koh Samui's more tourist-facing retail strips. Visitors come to browse fresh produce, seasonal fruits, vegetables, clothing, and everyday goods at prices that reflect what locals actually pay. The informal, open-air layout means the selection shifts from visit to visit, and the experience is unhurried and unpretentious. Food is a genuine highlight here. Multiple vendors serve affordable Thai dishes, and the atmosphere around the food stalls is notably warm and welcoming. Shoppers can pick up fresh vegetables and produce by selecting items and paying what the vendor asks — a relaxed system that, according to regular visitors, feels fair and pressure-free even for foreign travellers unfamiliar with the setup. The market draws a predominantly local crowd, which lends it an authenticity that more organised shopping centres in the area simply lack. Good to know: The market is open every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, so it fits easily into most itineraries. Visiting in the morning or later afternoon is preferable to avoid the peak midday heat, as much of the space is open-air. Cash in Thai Baht is the practical choice here, as pricing is informal and not all vendors will have card facilities. Comfortable footwear is recommended.

Visitor Reviews
It is a local market with reasonable prices and no overcharges for tourists. It may be a bit far from your accommodation, but you will experience more of the local atmosphere. You will get to eat food at affordable prices, with good flavors and definitely something new. I highly recommend it.
Very tasty and affordable various dining options.. The chef is very nice and humble.. She made sure we liked the food and she even presented it by herself.. They say Thai food is good anywhere.. But I say think again 'coz quality varies.. Lovely family outdoors atmosphere
Local market not too far from the main Chaweng Beach tourist areas. I came looking for some seasonal fruit but didn't find what I was after but it was a relaxing stroll checking out local produce, seafood and some other misc stalls. It isn't very large and I'm unsure if there are bigger markets on the island of Koh Samui ?

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
