G9 HOTEL Kanchanaburi

4.4(131 reviews)

Located in Pak Phraek, Mueang Kanchanaburi, this straightforward hotel serves as a practical base for travellers exploring one of Thailand's most historically significant regions. The area is well known for the Bridge over the River Kwai, war museums, temples, and surrounding nature reserves, and the hotel sits within reach of the town's main points of interest. Guests consistently describe the rooms as clean, spacious, and quiet — a reliable combination for those who want comfortable rest without unnecessary extras. The property keeps things simple rather than luxurious, which suits travellers whose priority is getting out and exploring the region rather than spending time at the hotel itself. It is worth noting that the location is described by some guests as slightly remote from the immediate town centre, so having access to a bicycle, rental car, or taxi is advisable. A shopping mall and restaurants are reportedly nearby, which adds some everyday convenience. Good to know: Reviews mention occasional minor maintenance issues, so it is worth checking your room on arrival and raising any concerns with staff promptly. The hotel's location suits guests with their own transport or those comfortable arranging taxis. Kanchanaburi's cool season, running from November to February, is the most comfortable time to visit for sightseeing, and accommodation books up quickly during this period. Check the hotel's website at g9hotels.com for current rates and availability before travelling.

Visitor Reviews

I really liked this hotel, rooms were very clean, spacious and safe. However the hotel is a little remote, so a bike, car, and or taxi might be required. Saying that, there is a Mall and restaurants near by (walking distance) so you won't starve.

Stayed at G9 Hotel in Kanchanaburi, and it turned out to be one of those simple-but-solid stays that just work. 🏨😌 The place isn’t fancy, but it’s clean, quiet, and conveniently located — close enough to the main attractions without being stuck in the noisy tourist strip. Check-in was smooth, staff were polite and actually helpful when I asked about directions and local food spots. The vibe is chill and unpretentious, perfect for travelers who want to rest without paying for frills they won’t use. The room itself was small but tidy, with cold A/C, a decent bed, and hot water that worked instantly (a small miracle in budget stays). 🛏️🚿 Wi-Fi was stable enough for Netflix, and everything felt safe and well-kept. You can tell they put effort into maintenance even if the décor’s a bit dated. The minimalist setup fits the “sleep, shower, explore” kind of trip. No luxury touches here — no pool, no big breakfast buffet — but for the price, it’s absolutely fair. 💸🌿 Great for a night or two if you’re exploring the River Kwai area and want a quiet base to recharge. I’d stay again, especially if I just need a clean, peaceful place to crash after a long day of sightseeing.

Based on my personal experience, I'd like to offer some feedback for the hotel's consideration. We booked two rooms on the 6th floor and checked in around 7:30 PM after a long day of traveling and sightseeing. We chose this hotel because: one, it's a new hotel; two, it offers a buffet breakfast with a city view from the top floor; and three, the price is acceptable. Check-in and the rooms were impressive – clean and beautiful, even the basic room was nice and had complete amenities. We went to bed around 10:30 PM, exhausted, but from around midnight to 4:00 AM, we couldn't sleep at all because a tour group checked in and was incredibly noisy, talking loudly and making it impossible to rest. We had to drive to work the next morning. It was a terrible experience, especially since we booked two rooms wanting to relax and didn't expect such noise – it was like having a hundred people right in front of our room. I'd like to inform the hotel that, in cases where you have multiple floors like ours (we stayed on the 6th floor), you should separate floors for early check-in guests or tour group guests. You shouldn't mix tour group guests who check in late or at night with guests who have already checked in and are resting. We feel you've managed this poorly. We're speaking out because we want the hotel to improve its management. Tour group guests checking in late should be separated from earlier guests who are already resting. You should allocate space for late-night guests. We paid the same price and expect a good night's rest; we don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night and have our sleep disrupted. Furthermore, the noise from this tour group was so loud in the morning that we couldn't get any rest either. We hope the hotel will improve its arrangements and separate the area for tour groups from regular guests. We paid the same price for our stay. The cleanliness of the room was excellent. The breakfast selection was varied, beautifully presented, and offered a great view from the 8th floor. For guests checking in or interested in staying here, if you happen to see our review, please be assured that the rooms are beautiful, clean, and well-equipped. However, we would like to suggest adding a comment or special request during check-in, specifically requesting a separate check-in area from tour groups that night, to prevent incidents like ours that ruined your vacation. We hope the hotel will take our suggestion into consideration for improvement and development. We sincerely hope you will listen to our feedback.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
