Plakan Log Home
Settled along the riverside in Kanchanaburi's Ban Nuea area, Plakan Log Home is a Thai restaurant housed in a distinctive log cabin structure that combines natural timber architecture with open water views. The setting makes it a popular choice for families, couples, and group outings, and the owner's hands-on, welcoming presence adds a personal touch that visitors regularly comment on. The menu centres on authentic Thai cooking with a broad range of dishes. Standout options include stir-fried vermicelli with cha-om, Chinese kale in oyster sauce, and spicy soups, all of which receive consistent praise for flavour and presentation. Portions are well-sized, and the kitchen caters comfortably to larger groups. The venue's position close to the road means some tables may experience occasional traffic noise, and prices sit higher than casual Thai dining in the region — both worth keeping in mind when planning a visit. Plakan Log Home opens daily from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM, covering both lunch and dinner service. Reservations are advisable on weekends and public holidays, particularly for groups, as popular dishes can sell out during busy periods. The venue is also part of a resort operation, so the website at plakanresort.com is a useful first stop for current menu details and any available accommodation if an extended stay in Kanchanaburi is on the cards.

Visitor Reviews
What a quaint place! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and most delicious authentic Thai dishes ever! We really enjoyed Stir-fried vermicelli with Cha-om, Chinese kale in oyster sauce, and Spicy soup with Pork ribs (soup was surprisingly really good!). Also had Spicy Stir-fried chicken with tree basil which was amazingly spicy but still very good. We understood the bowl of ice with fresh veggies that was given to offset the heat! We’re staying at the hotel for 5 days and can’t wait to try something else new next few nights!
A beautiful looking building. A little close to the road which made it a little noisy. However, the food was excellent and well presented. The menu is extensive and mainly focuses on Thai dishes. The service was attentive but not intrusive. A good dinner and we will return when in Kanchanaburi. Also worth mentioning is the interesting mini museum off the resort lobby which is well worth a look.
I would highly recommend this place for great food with a great view!. The service is spectacular, I would definitely come again! We ordered 5 different dishes and all of them were so good! I recommend ordering pork egg omelette and grilled pork, it was delicious 🤤

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
