Grace Hostel - Chiangrai
Compare prices
Grace Hostel is a small, unpretentious hostel on Nahkhai Road in Chiang Rai, notable less for its facilities than for the exceptional personal care shown by its owners. The two women who run the property have earned a strong reputation among backpackers for going well beyond basic hospitality — guests have been looked after during illness, given home-cooked meals, and provided with reliable transport advice and transfer arrangements. That level of attentiveness is rare and consistently highlighted by those who stay here. Dorm beds come with curtains for privacy, a personal power socket, and individual lighting — practical touches that make shared accommodation more comfortable. A complimentary breakfast is included, typically featuring eggs, homemade bread, and fruit, and free tea, coffee, and water are available throughout the day. The common area overlooks the street and provides a relaxed spot to unwind. The hostel sits roughly seven minutes by scooter from the city centre, which keeps it quieter than more centrally located options. The hostel is open daily from 07:00 to 22:00, so travellers with late arrivals should plan accordingly and contact the property in advance. Given its small size and strong word-of-mouth reputation, booking early is advisable during peak travel periods. Grace Hostel suits independent travellers and backpackers who prioritise a genuine, low-key atmosphere and personal service over polished amenities.

Visitor Reviews
My friend and I are currently backpacking Southeast Asia and the service here was the kindest and most heartfelt we’ve ever had. I had a really bad stomachache and the lady insisted I eat two of her bananas. When I tried to pay for them she wouldn’t even take my money, and then she offered us oatmeal for breakfast for free. The beds are sooo comfortable, and the place is very clean. Plus showers are hot, laundry for a cheap price, and a lovely common area. One of the best hostels we have been to :)))
Me actually stayed in Grace some time ago. But I miss this place and the lady boss. The place is good and ive got much more than I expected, e.g. simple but warm meals, transport advices & transfer. My time here was relaxed and felt being well taken care. There was a small market, convenient store, restaurant and sunday market nearby.
UNREAL value for the money with a GOOD breakfast included. The dorm bed was comfortable AND VERY CLEAN. Nice common area overlooking street which I really enjoyed. Friendly and helpful staff.
