Hotel Clay Chiang Mai
Compare prices
Tucked along Ratchapakhinai Road within Chiang Mai's historic old city, Hotel Clay is a modern boutique-style property that consistently earns high praise from guests for its combination of comfort, atmosphere, and warm hospitality. The hotel occupies a quiet but well-connected position that keeps travellers close to the action without the noise — the Sunday Night Market is around a 10 to 15 minute walk away, and everyday conveniences like a 7-Eleven are just two minutes on foot. Rooms are described by guests as cosy and well-appointed, featuring air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, and a clean, comfortable feel that represents solid value for the price. The hotel carries a boutique aesthetic, with interiors that feel considered rather than generic. Staff are frequently highlighted as a standout feature, with guests noting a genuine warmth and attentiveness that elevates the overall stay. The property is also noted for feeling safe and secure, which is a practical reassurance for solo travellers and first-time visitors to Chiang Mai. For those planning a stay, it is worth noting that some room types are listed as windowless, though at least some rooms do feature a small window — guests recommend confirming room details at the time of booking. Given the hotel's popularity and the volume of positive feedback, booking in advance is advisable, particularly during Chiang Mai's peak tourist season between November and February.

Visitor Reviews
We had a perfect 5-night stay at Hotel Clay while exploring Chiang Mai! Location is great, staff is very friendly and the hotel is beautiful. Rooms are very cozy and comfortable, only thing we didn’t love is the lay-out of the bathroom and the room next to it with the sink and open closet. We were also missing a small hand soap dispenser at the sink, would be nice to add that. Also, compliments to the housekeeping team! They cleaned our room quickly but spotless everyday. We also saw the offer (free?) bicycles, unfortunately we didn’t get to try those but great way to get to the sights that are a little bit further out.
We extended our stay here because it was just perfect! Stayed in the Standard Double room and it was great. Loved this location as it feels a little quieter but still close to the action and there is a lovely seating area downstairs/out on the roadside. Also the front desk staff are the NICEST, friendliest people ever. They work really hard and are so accommodating and have such wonderful attitudes. I can’t say enough positive things about them. Would definitely recommend!
We loved this modern boutique like hotel. The rooms are super cosy with AC, tea and coffee. The description said no window but we had a small window in the room, which we really liked. Everything is very clean and the service was perfect. The location is perfect for exploring chiang mai. Directly next to the hotel there is a laundry service, a 7-eleven and a delicious cafe. The lobby is comfortable for relaxing and they even offer free snacks and drinks.
