Coucou Hotel
Situated on Sri Poom Road within Chiang Mai's historic Old City, Coucou Hotel is a boutique property that draws consistently enthusiastic praise for its combination of comfort, cleanliness, and genuinely warm hospitality. The owner and staff are frequently highlighted by guests as a standout feature, known for going out of their way with local recommendations and creating an atmosphere that feels more like staying with friends than checking into a hotel. Rooms are well-appointed and clean, and the property features a pool with a shaded relaxation area that guests describe as a welcome retreat after exploring the city. Solo travellers, including solo female travellers, have noted feeling particularly safe and at ease here. The Old City location puts guests within easy walking distance of Chiang Mai's historic temples, night markets, and local dining, while the street itself retains a quieter, residential character. Practical amenities extend to a reception desk that guests find approachable and helpful, with the team assisting with services such as laundry pickup arrangements. For those planning a stay, booking well in advance is advisable during the high season between November and February, when demand for well-regarded boutique hotels in the Old City is at its peak. Current rates and availability are best confirmed directly through the hotel's Facebook page, as pricing is not publicly listed. The surrounding area is comfortably explored on foot, so light, comfortable footwear is recommended.

Visitor Reviews
First time solo traveling! Female and I felt beyond safe here. It is absolutely beautiful. That pool view is really nice and I wish I had left more room in my schedule to just swim in it because twice was not enough! Location is perfect for lantern festival in my opinion. Its far enough away from the main activities that your street is relatively quiet at night. However its still walk able about 15-20 minutes to get to the bridge. Its also good if you need to catch a grab and go outside of old town since its close enough to the edge of old town. The staff is amazing. Truly some of my favorite people I met while in Thailand. Bonus points its 1 block away from 7/11. I had gotten food poisoning in Bangkok so this 7/11 was essential. The only thing that would make this wonderful hotel better would be shower temperature. Im used to extremely hot showers at home. The water is a nice comfy warm just not hot. (Which was ok most days due to me being overheated from outdoors). I think this is normal for Thailand. The previous hotel I stayed at in Bangkok water was extremely cold. Overall missing this hotel already. Planning on coming back in the future 🫶🏻 This is the first time I have ever wanted to live in a hotel.
We really enjoyed our 4 nights here. The location was super convenient. The owner and staffs were all super friendly and smiled A LOT. I really enjoyed passing by the reception desk every time and exchange a “Sawadee Ka”. The room looks pretty and bed was comfortable. One of the highlight i would say was that breakfasts were surprisingly good. Unfortunately we had arrangements to explore the rural areas of Chiang Mai early in 2 of the days, otherwise we would eat here every morning.
Thank you, Coucou customer, for choosing Foo Foo Laundry to pick up and clean your laundry and shoes. You can also leave your laundry, bags, or payment at the reception — no worries, we’ll take care of everything for you. I’m not surprised at all that the reviews are 4.9. The atmosphere inside is peaceful and lush, and the staff are very friendly, always smiling and extremely helpful.

Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
