Syama Residence, Ayutthaya

4.7(38 reviews)

Situated along the banks of the river in the heart of Ayutthaya's historic district, Syama Residence offers a small, intimate alternative to larger hotels. The property is designed as a Thai contemporary two-storey house, surrounded by lush greenery, and guests enjoy views of a nearby temple directly from the grounds. With only a handful of rooms, the atmosphere is notably peaceful and quiet, making it well suited to travellers seeking a relaxed base from which to explore the ancient ruins and temples of the surrounding area.

Guests consistently highlight the quality of the on-site coffee shop, which serves well-regarded coffee and cakes, though it draws its own crowd of visitors and can become busy at peak times. Breakfasts are available and well received, though those with dietary requirements — particularly vegetarians — may want to confirm menu options in advance. Staff are described as welcoming and attentive, contributing to an experience that feels more like a personal guesthouse than a conventional hotel. The property also benefits from good parking and around-the-clock security.

Given the small number of rooms, early booking is strongly recommended, particularly during Thailand's cool season from November to February, which is the most popular time to visit Ayutthaya. The address on Thanon Uthong places guests conveniently close to the city's main historical sites, many of which are reachable by bicycle or tuk-tuk.

Reviews from Google

Samaya Ayutthaya is a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay. The property features a Thai contemporary two-story house design, surrounded by lush greenery, giving a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We booked a riverside room along the Chao Phraya River, with a direct view of Wat Phutthai Sawan across the river. The view is stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. We stayed in the Patra Room, which was excellent. The room is very spacious, bright, and well designed. The bathroom is large and separated from the bedroom, and it comes with a bathtub, perfect for relaxing. There is also a private balcony overlooking the river and the pagoda, which really adds to the charm of the stay. On the ground floor, there is a café where you can sit and enjoy the calm surroundings. The entire property feels quiet, cozy, and ideal for a true getaway. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful riverside stay in Ayutthaya with beautiful views and spacious rooms. Would definitely come back again.

I love everything about this hotel. All the staff are wonderful and provide excellent service. The room was incredibly clean, and the view was amazing. The atmosphere is peaceful, quiet, and perfect for relaxation. Thank you for the great hospitality. I will definitely come back again if I have the chance.

Syama, a welcoming and friendly host, embodies hospitality since arriveal. Despite its proximity at same place to a bustling cafe, the cafe itself is quite crowded. Syama is a residence with only a few rooms on top of the cafe. The rooms are well-maintained and clean, featuring a nice shower and air conditioning. They accommodate requests to arrange cakes for birthdays. The breakfast is an ala carte buffet, and the food is quite nice and delicious. One thing to remember is that Syama is a residence by the river, so it’s serene in the mornings and filled with bird chirping that might wake you up if you’re a light sleeper. However, it can get crowded during the day. On the bright side, they provide parking for residents. Parking space is limited
