Floating Pier (East Railay)
Come here if you want the calmer way off Railay. Boats to the mainland run about 100 baht a head, or 150 after sunset, and they leave once six passengers have gathered, which is fewer than the west side needs. Fewer people waiting too. The trade-off is the floating jetty: it moves, and hauling a hard-shell suitcase across it is no fun. Backpacks make life easier.
Long-tail skippers work the pier all day and will take you out privately, four islands in an afternoon being the standard run. Speedboats leave for Phi Phi from here as well. While you wait, the limestone cliffs and cave mouths behind the pier do a lot of the work, and there's a tractor in operation that a fair few people remember more clearly than the boat ride.

Took a private long-tail boat afternoon tour to 4 islands. It was the best scenic view ever, boatman “Sun” is knowledgeable, even with little English, his boating skills was excellent. He knew the scenic spots to take photographs and took only 2.5 hours instead of joining group tours 4 hours to complete the 4 islands. Took very good care of me. This is probably the reason to Krabi. The beautiful scenery.
The Railay pier has great connections to most nearby islands. We went from here to Phi Phi by way of speedboat.
Motorboats back to Ao Nang are like 100baht. Didnt have to wait too long on return. Also saw the craziest tractor of my life here
