Petchnumnoi Gym (Singpatong)

Petchnumnoi Gym — better known to fight fans under its Singpatong Sitnumnoi name — is Patong's authentic Thai stable, a working fighters' gym in the streets above the beach that has produced multiple stadium champions. This is the counterpoint to Phuket's international camps: the core of the gym is its Thai fight team, from young boys to stadium-level professionals, and visitors train beside them under trainers whose job is producing champions rather than running a fitness class. The coaching is correspondingly traditional — long pad rounds, heavy clinch, and technique passed down rather than programmed. The group session runs in the late afternoon six days a week — mornings are for the fight team and privates — and foreigners of every level are welcome; the gym has cornered plenty of visiting fighters on Phuket's stadium cards, both of which are a few minutes away in Patong. Between sessions you are in the middle of the island's liveliest beach town, for better and worse. Good to know: turn up for a session or arrange weekly and monthly rates at the gym; this is a fighters' camp, so schedules flex around fight nights at Bangla and Patong stadiums — which, if you train here, you should absolutely attend when the gym's fighters are on the card.
