Why go, and how to do it well

Din Daeng Doi is a hilltop viewpoint in Nong Thale, 20 to 30 minutes by car from Ao Nang, that looks out over Krabi's limestone peaks and forest. Sunrise is the reason to come. The gates open at 05:30 and the sun comes up around 06:00 to 06:30, so plan to leave Ao Nang at about 05:00.

From the parking area it's an uphill walk of 10 to 15 minutes to the top, steady rather than hard, and one reviewer made it with parents close to 70. A small café at the top sells drinks, smoothies and roti, with seats facing the view. Some recent visitors mention litter and leftover building materials around the site, so the view is the draw rather than the grounds.
