Cookery Koh Samui

4.9(128 reviews)

Cookery Koh Samui offers small-group Thai cooking classes in Bo Put, led by instructor Pai, who has built a strong reputation for making the experience both educational and genuinely enjoyable. The focus is on authentic Thai cooking techniques using local ingredients, with participants preparing dishes from scratch rather than simply watching a demonstration. The intimate class format means Pai can give individual attention to each guest, and the experience has proven equally rewarding for solo travellers, couples, families with children, and larger groups. The atmosphere is relaxed and hands-on, with classes structured to accommodate different dietary requirements, including vegetarian adaptations, without disrupting the flow for others. Reviewers consistently highlight Pai's attentiveness, clear instruction, and ability to work with mixed groups of varying ages, skill levels, and food preferences. The setting on Koh Samui adds a tropical backdrop that fits naturally with the island-focused cooking style. Good to know: Advance booking through the website at paicookerysamui.com is strongly recommended, as class sizes are intentionally kept small. Pai has been known to accommodate groups slightly larger than the usual maximum when given notice, so it is worth reaching out directly if travelling with a bigger party. Comfortable, casual clothing suited to a kitchen environment is the practical choice for the day.

Visitor Reviews

We had an excellent cooking school with Pai and a lot of fun. We were a group of 8 people and although it is normally only for a maximum of 7 people, an 8th gas stove was specially organized. There are 4 suggestions for the menu that you can choose from. Since we didn't want to make curry paste, we were able to put together a selection of different dishes. We had 2 vegetarians with us and it wasn't a problem at all. They had tofu instead of meat and they even replaced the oyster sauce with mushroom sauce. The organization was very good and the explanations in English were very understandable. We all had a lot of fun, had very full stomachs after the meal and learned a lot.

ממליצה בחום על פאי, הסדנה איתה הייתה אחד הדברים הכי טובים שעשינו בתאילנד! The cooking class with Pai was one of the best things we’ve done in Thailand! Pai was kind right from the start, and throughout the cooking class she explained everything in perfect English and answered all of our questions. She taught us how to make the best Pad Thai we’ve had in all of our stay in Thailand, as well and how to prepare a curry paste. She also treated us with fried morning glory and showed us how to make mango sticky rice. All in all, I cannot recommend enough experiencing cooking with Pai!

I went to cookery class with my friend and it was so amazing! Our host Pai had everything prepared, organized and explained in a simple way. At the same time we learned to cook ourselves. And there were good tips all along. We came to cook 3-4 dishes, but ended up with cooking 6, including dessert and one more. It is my first Thai cooking class, I enjoyed it very much, all dishes turned out to be delicious! I highly recommend Pai and her classes🧡🧡🧡

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
