River Kwai Kayaking by PMT
River Kwai Kayaking by PMT offers guided and self-guided kayaking experiences on the River Kwai, operating just 150 metres downstream from the famous River Kwai Bridge in Kanchanaburi. The company transports paddlers upstream by boat, allowing for a relaxed downstream journey of around five kilometres that takes in temples, lily pad fields, and views of the historic bridge with trains passing overhead — a combination that makes it a distinctive way to explore one of Thailand's most historically significant waterways. Each booking includes a life jacket, a waterproof dry bag, and water, with participants able to leave additional belongings stored safely at the base. Kayaks are two-person vessels fitted with supportive seats, making the experience accessible to those who may have concerns about comfort on longer trips. Guided tours typically run between one and a half to three hours depending on the pace and route chosen, with sunset departures available for those who prefer a quieter, more atmospheric experience on the water. The operation is open every day from 08:30 to 19:30, which allows for both morning and late-afternoon departures. Pricing has been reported at around 500 baht per person for a two-person kayak rental, though visitors are advised to check the current rates on the official website at riverkwaikayaking.com before arrival. Opting for a guided trip is recommended for first-time visitors unfamiliar with the river.

Visitor Reviews
Enjoying the Kwai River, swimming, and taking wonderful pictures with the train passing over the Kwai River Bridge. It was the best experience on my trip to Thailand. If possible, travel with a guide. He will protect you and take wonderful pictures.I thank staffs and strongly recommend it.
Had a very good experience hiring a kayak. We were provided water, a waterproof bag and life vests. They stored the stuff that we didn't need to bring along. They then transported us up river and guided us on where to go before we headed out. Really nice surroundings, especially in the beginning. Saw lots of birds. Finding our way back was super easy. When we came back, we were offered a shower and towel if needed. All in all a great experience and super friendly and service-minded staff.
We had a very pleasant and peaceful 1.5 hour trip going down the river with a kayak by sunset. Kayak renting was 500 baths per person (for a 2 person kayak), included life jackets, a dry bag and water bottles. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely do it again!

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
