Khao Hin Lek Fai Viewpoint

4.4(493 reviews)

Think of it less as a lookout and more as a park sitting on top of a mountain, with numbered viewpoints scattered across it and shade between them. Not all of them are equal. Reviewers rate points two and five highest for the coastal panoramas, while point four has a big platform whose view has been swallowed by grown trees. Point six sits furthest north along the top. Entry is free, parking is plentiful, and you could easily spend an hour wandering between them.

The resident animals are half the appeal and half the problem. Monkeys, goats, dogs, turkeys, even a horse, none of them remotely shy. The monkeys are opportunistic thieves, so don't leave anything on a motorbike seat and don't carry visible food unless you plan to hand it over. One visitor reported a large snake near the path to point two, so watch where you're putting your feet.

Late afternoon is my pick. The heat drops at elevation and the light is kinder for photos.

Reviews from Google

Excellent free place to visit with lots of parking available. If you're visiting my motorcycle beware of all the monkeys, don't leave anything on your bike, lock it up or take it with you. This place has quite a few viewpoints all numbered. The nearest is No 4 which has a big viewing platform but the views are very restricted because trees have grown too high. No 5 is another big viewing platform but unlike No 4 gives great unobscured views. Walk north to No 6, the furthest one on the top. There's no viewing platform here but it's a viewing point on several rocks with precipitous drops, be careful, no fence or guardrails. Don't miss No 2 viewpoint which gives you access different perspective looking south and is accessed by climbing up to the top of a large boulder. I couldn't find viewpoint No 3, you walk down a path littered with rubbish past an old dam, but the path doesn't lead anywhere. Lovely place to spend a bit of time, there is also a small Caffè on the site. If you want to see loads of monkeys it's a good place to visit.

Stunning views and thieving monkeys. The views makes it worth the visit. Just dont ever leave anything for monkeys to steal. Khao Hin Lek Fai offers several locations with beautiful views of Hua Hin. Its very nice to see the city from above. A lot of free parking available. Bring proper footwear and something to drink.

First time visiting this overlook, and I was pleasantly surprised! It’s more like a park perched on top of a mountain, with stunning views up and down the coast. There’s plenty of free parking, lots of shade, and a surprising amount of wildlife — I saw monkeys, birds, a couple of goats, a horse, and even a dog roaming around. 🐒🐐🐎 The walking paths are concrete with a layer of rocks on top, which gives great traction in wet weather — though not the best for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues. When I was there, I saw at least half a dozen workers actively cleaning the paths, which was great to see. I do wish they’d extend the cleanup efforts under the viewing platforms and just off the main trails — quite a bit of plastic litter there. Still, the views really make up for it, and I’m hoping on my next visit it’ll be even better. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Popular Activities Online

Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
