Jek Pia
A no-frills seafood eatery on Phet Kasem Road in central Hua Hin, Jek Pia has earned a loyal following among both locals and travellers for its straightforward, authentic Thai coastal cooking at genuinely affordable prices. Recommended by hotel staff and repeat visitors alike, it sits just a short walk from the night market and draws consistent crowds who come primarily for the crab fried rice, which is widely regarded as a standout dish. The claypot soup is another popular option for those wanting variety beyond the seafood menu. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, with the quality of the food carrying the experience rather than any particular setting or decor. Portions are generous and the price point makes it a practical choice for budget-conscious travellers who want authentic flavour without compromise. Good to know: Jek Pia opens daily at 5:00 PM and closes at just 7:30 PM, so the window for dining is short and demand is high. Tables fill almost immediately at opening, and visitors have reported being turned away before 5:00 PM, so arriving at or just before opening time is strongly advised. Cash is the recommended payment method. Those sensitive to MSG may want to be cautious with the claypot soup, as some visitors have noted its presence in that particular dish.

Visitor Reviews
The food and service were fantastic—no surprise this place fills up the moment it opens. I came for the fresh seafood, but everything was delicious. I arrived with two friends at 4:30 PM and got turned away, so we waited at a coffee shop across the street. Turns out, they start seating early birds just before 5 PM. Once seated, service was fast, and dishes came out one by one in no particular order. Portions were above average and inexpensive—six dishes plus water cost only 1,000 baht. First out was a dish of fried pork so exciting I forgot to take a picture. Crispy, with just the right amount of tasty fat left on it. Then came a very generous portion of crab with curry that I really loved. Highly recommend it. Next up was garlic squid—tender, perfectly cooked, with great garlic flavor. The fried fish with basil (kra pow) stood out. For 180 baht, a whole, perfectly fried, truly boneless fish. A great deal and a must-order. We also got a chicken version of the squid dish—tender, fried, and flavorful—plus another chicken dish with veggies and sauce. We devoured every bite with satisfaction. Some general observations: - Menus are in Thai and English, with accurate translations. - Food wasn’t overly salty or sweet. - Frying oils seemed fresh and clean. - Nothing was over or undercooked. - The restaurant was spotless, with a strong cleaning and cooking operation. - Fish and seafood were well cared for, displayed on ice. - English communication was easy, and they also catered to Chinese customers. - The place is run efficiently—timely but not rushed—with plenty of groups and solo diners. - The diverse menu has something for everyone, including a hotpot option that seemed very popular. Overall, you can’t go wrong here. Your friends, taste buds, and stomach will thank you. Once you try their food, you’ll be a regular
This is at corner of road and one block far from night market. Lots of locals n foreigners are waiting the line. Food is really really good. Way more better than Bangkok crab fried rice. The best sellers are scallops and crab fried rice. The shop kitchen closed at 7:30 PM and can sit till 8PM. My Huahin food was completed with this restaurant Breakfast is also popular with rice congee.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
