Phuket Meditation Center

5.0(118 reviews)

Tucked away in the Chalong area of Phuket, this center offers something genuinely distinct from the island's typical wellness offerings. Rather than drop-in spa treatments, it specializes in structured meditation retreats — multi-day, immersive programs that take participants through a sustained contemplative practice. The center is led by teachers Tobi and Parn, whose guided approach has drawn repeat visitors from around the world, including those who have completed five or more retreats here over the years. Visitors can expect a focused, unhurried environment built around serious mindfulness instruction. Programs appear to run across several days, making this better suited to travellers with flexible itineraries than those passing through for a single session. Reviewers consistently describe the experience as transformative rather than simply relaxing, with practical tools and techniques that continue to be useful long after leaving Phuket. The atmosphere is intentional and inward-facing, quite removed from the commercial energy of the island's beach resort zones. Good to know: As no website or published schedule is currently available, prospective visitors should make direct contact well in advance to confirm upcoming retreat dates and availability. Given that programs run over multiple days and attract returning participants, spaces may be limited. Comfortable, modest clothing suitable for extended seated practice is recommended, and it is worth clarifying what to bring when booking.

This was my 5th meditation retreat with Tobi and Parn in Phuket. I completed my first retreat several years ago and the profound experience and insights I gained from Tobi during that time has never left me. From the very first moment I met Tobi I felt a genuineness and warmth from him. He has a real gift of seeing you clearly and using his wisdom and knowledge to guide you towards understanding yourself on a deeper level. His guided meditations are instructive and calming. He is a great teacher and you will learn to meditate from him during the retreat. His talks are insightful, relatable and often quite funny. He has a wonderful way of articulating what he is teaching you through humour and stories. I enjoy all his talks immensely and always leave feeling inspired. Parn his wife is loving and kind and really cares about making you feel comfortable. Coco retreat itself is an incredibly beautiful place. The staff are lovely and attentive. I always feel peaceful and at home here the moment I walk through the doors. The power of the daily group meditations and open discussions with the other people on retreat is a magic all in itself and I have made many beautiful friends over the years and continue to remain in touch with them. The mindfulness meditation I have learnt from Tobi and his guidance throughout the years have helped me overcome some incredibly challenging experiences in my life including losing my late partner recently. This time around I was reminded once again of just how special this place is and have gained a deeper understanding of my self. I came to the first retreat desperate to find happiness and have discovered a life long journey of understanding one self and why we suffer. Learning and putting into practice mindfulness meditation has given me the time and space to see myself more clearly, calm my busy mind and experience more peace and happiness now. I am so grateful for discovering Tobi and Parn’s retreats all those years ago and if you’ve made it this far in my review my wish is for you to discover them too 🧘🏼‍♀️🫶🏻🥰 They truly are life changing. Thank you Tobi and Parn for all you do 🙏

I’m writing this updated review to share how deeply transformative the work with them have been for me over time. What brought me here — and keeps me coming back — is that each retreat takes me deeper. There are times I find myself thinking, ‘Even ayahuasca and iboga combined can’t match the clarity and transformation of this work.’" The changes aren’t always obvious right away, but as time passes, I notice that the choices I make in life are shifting — because the way I think is also changing. With that in mind, I genuinely hope many people get the opportunity to experience a retreat at Phuket Meditation Center. Still, I know it’s not a path for everyone it’s for those with the courage and curiosity to explore beyond the limits of what we usually believe life to be. Before meeting Tobi, I didn’t think a clear, guided path to the end of suffering even existed. I also had no idea that such a journey could be completely independent of wealth or financial status The retreat is arranged in a way that gives me completely stress-free days — it reminds me of being a kid, when I could simply be. The mornings start early with excursions, yet interestingly, I’ve never overslept once; the sleep I get here is always so deeply restorative. The schedule isn’t crammed with endless activities, which leaves space to rest, reflect, and enjoy the moment. There’s also the option to join yoga, which I highly recommend. It’s slow, gentle, and deeply relaxing — and the teacher’s soothing voice feels almost hypnotic. Parn has such a warm and caring presence. She takes beautiful photos, serves tea with genuine kindness, greets everyone with warmth, and somehow makes coconut time feel special every single day. Tobi and Parn are refreshingly real — they look and act like ordinary people, not like the “spiritual” image many might expect (I say that coming from beeing around a lot of spiritual modalities and not in a condecending way). And yet, what they are doing for the world through this work is truly admirable. Thank you so much.

I was lucky enough to be one of the participants of this transformative, weeklong mindfulness and meditation experience. Tobi and his teachings helped me develop the tools and skills to use meditation to calm my mind, which is so difficult as an over thinker, and to calm my body. From the beautiful locations, the small group setting, and powerful teachings- I have learned so much and have implemented what I learned into my life. I will definitely be back. Coco Retreat and the full package with food and yoga included is the way to go for sure! I didn’t need to think about anything which gave me an opportunity to focus my energy on myself and on healing and restoration. We had delicious, healthy meals and fellowship with the other participants everyday. It was a invigorating reset for my mind, body, and soul! I HIGHLY recommend this retreat. So grateful for this experience. 🤩☀️👍🏽

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
