Ruen Sukhothai Massage Centre

4.3(863 reviews)

Tucked into the heart of Ao Nang village, this massage centre has built a strong local reputation through consistently skilled practitioners and a welcoming, unhurried atmosphere. Recommended regularly by hotel receptionists and returning visitors alike, it draws a steady mix of tourists and locals — a reliable sign of quality in a strip where massage shops are plentiful but vary widely. Visitors can expect a calm, professionally run space with therapists who adapt to individual needs, whether that means a firm deep-tissue session or a gentler oil massage. Traditional Thai massage and foot massage are particular strengths, with reviewers frequently noting that therapists read the body well and apply the right pressure without being asked. The vibe is unpretentious — this is a place focused on the quality of treatment rather than luxury surroundings, making it a solid choice after physically demanding days exploring Krabi's temples, beaches, and islands. Good to know: The centre can get busy, especially during peak season from November to February, and walk-ins sometimes find it fully booked. Booking at least a day ahead is worthwhile, particularly for groups or specific time slots. Opening hours are not consistently listed online, so it is worth calling ahead or asking your accommodation to confirm current timings before making the trip.

Visitor Reviews

After days of climbing the endless stairs of Tiger Cave Temple, Muay Thai training, walking all over Krabi, and surviving a full day on a boat around Phi Phi, my body was absolutely destroyed. Every muscle felt tight, my back was stiff, and my legs were still shaking from the hike. I needed a reset. That’s how I ended up at Ruen Sukhothai Massage Centre, and honestly, this place saved me. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. Soft lighting, clean interior, traditional Thai decorations, and staff who actually smile like they’re happy to see you. It already felt like a good choice. I even added a few pictures because the place really does look as clean as it feels. I booked the 1.5-hour Aloe Vera massage, and my girlfriend chose the 1.5-hour oil massage. From the first minute, it was clear we were dealing with professionals. My masseuse knew exactly what she was doing. She found every knot, every tight spot, every hidden pain I didn’t even realise I had. At one point she cracked my back in a way that made my soul leave my body and return healed. It genuinely felt like she understood my body better than I do. The Aloe Vera gel felt amazing on my sunburned skin after all the time outdoors. Cooling, soothing, and perfect after the heat and humidity. My girlfriend said her oil massage was so relaxing she almost fell asleep several times. She came out glowing and looking ten times lighter. We also got to meet the owner, and you can tell instantly that he’s a good man. Very friendly, humble, and clearly proud of his place. The energy of a business always comes from the top, and here you can feel that everything runs with heart. After the massage, we were offered tea, which was a perfect finishing touch. And before leaving, I took a shower. I have to mention this because many massage places have tiny or weak showers, but theirs was surprisingly spacious with actual hot water and good pressure. After a long massage, a proper shower makes the experience complete. Everything was clean, everyone was kind, and the masseuses were genuinely skilled. The pricing is more than fair for the quality you get. I’ve paid more in other places for massages that weren’t even half as good. If you’re in Krabi and your body needs recovery after hiking, training, travelling, or even just a long day in the sun, I absolutely recommend this place. I walked in exhausted and walked out feeling like a new version of myself. Five stars without hesitation.

Recommended to go here by our hotel receptionist. It Wasn't on my list ! When we arrived it quickly got busy, highlighting how good it must be. We booked 2 60 minutes massages for the next day. Hot oil relaxation for my wife and a Thai full body for me, both then followed by a mech, shoulder and head massage for 30 minutes. We paid 100 baht deposit for each. The following day we were warmly greeted. Had our feet washed outside. Then shown to our massage room. Gentle music playing. Both myself and wife received really professional and enjoyable massages. My Thai massage was very good with a firm amount of pressure and stretch. The neck, back and head massages were brilliant too. We left feeling thoroughly tender ! But both noticed how relaxed we felt and hour later. The prices are as shown and very reasonable. You pay more for some of the more ush looking places. I feel this place is brilliant value for the very professional and good quality of service it offers. Highly recommend a visit.

⭐ 5/5 – Excellent foot & Thai massage experience I had a foot massage and a Thai massage, and both were absolutely amazing. The therapists were very skilled and professional, and they knew exactly how to relieve stress and tension. The ambience was calm, clean, and relaxing, making the whole experience even better. The foot massage was incredibly soothing, and the Thai massage was perfectly balanced - deep, effective, and refreshing. Great service, high hygiene standards, and a truly relaxing experience overall. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back again.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
